Its at 10,000 feet above sea level and I ran out of steam after two nights. The campground was clean and well run. Next time I'll bring some oxygen. Lots of room to play games on the lawn. Sites were level. Have fire rings, at night it gets cold, so a fire is nice to have.

Enjoyed the site and the campgrounds. The owners were wonderful. Would definitely return. Would have gave a five but with the digital age I wish the wi-fi was better.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We wish the wifi was better too! :) Unfortunately, our internet service provider options are extremely limited, so what we have is the best we can get for now. I am continually searching for better options.

The campground is currently under new ownership and all of the previous complaints by past guests are being dealt with. Our stay was very enjoyable and the owner / operators were very friendly and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you! We do pay attention to our camper feedback and are absolutely investing in resolution wherever possible.

Been to the Cripple Creek KOA several times now. Great location at high elevation. Weather stays cool up there. Very clean campground - bathrooms, showers, etc. We'll definitely be back.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Excellent! You are welcome any time.

Everything was great but we were disappointed that no one enforced dogs being on a leash.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Our apologies. We did our best on one of the busiest weekends of the year.

Clean and nice overpriced compared to State Parks

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We are competitively priced among KOAs statewide and nationwide, and provide more amenities than state parks. We are also not government subsidized as they are. We think Mueller park up the road is beautiful camping though. Feel free to stop by to dump your tanks after you check out as they have no sewer hookups.

We have stayed at this KOA several times in the past. Very clean and well kept. The owners are friendly and helpful. The big issue for us this time was the lack of any cell phone service and very limited internet. Our ATT WiFi Hot-spot device wouldn't work at all and the KOA Internet wasn't dependable. We are so dependent on good communications that we will be hesitant to stay there again.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Sorry, but we cannot take responsibility for AT&T not having cell service in our remote location. Our internet service is the best available up here and has not changed for years, so not sure why that took you by surprise this visit. I am glad you enjoyed our other amenities. We work hard to make your outdoor camping experience exceptional!

Love this KOA. Quiet, clean, beautiful! Very well run and friendly

Great owners! Make u feel at home. Close to a lot of Rocky mountain fun.

The friendliest hosts! The grounds were very well kept and location was perfect.

If you want to camp on the side of a steep grade, in a too-narrow site, have your picnic table at an angle where your can of soda will slide off the table, and where you will fall out your front door if you don't hang-on... then THIS is the campground for you. If Cripple Creek wants to claim fame as being the "worlds highest campground" they could at least provide more accommodating sites.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We have a FEW sites that have significantly sloped yards, however you were in site 147 which is not one of them. As a new owner this year, leveling out the sloped sites is one of the top items on my to-do list. Unfortunate that you neglected to look up from your site long enough to take in the breathtaking beauty or friendly folks around you.

Sites too narrow and not long enough for our 40' Class A plus toad. Because of slope away from gravel pad, unsafe at motorcoach steps. No cable. Terrible WiFi (good signal strength, but no bandwidth). No AT&T cell coverage. One channel OTA TV. Left after 2 nights of a planned 4 night stay.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Some of our sites are too sloped and I am working on addressing that. Also have plans to add some new sites that are better suited for big rigs. Per your other complaints... well, we are a remote campground in the beautiful, pristine mountains of central Colorado. We offer camping and outdoor activities and don't have an interest in ruining our outdoor experience with city hotel amenities.

My wife died while staying here. They told me I could stay as long as I needed to take care of things even though they had a fully booked Veterans group coming in that weekend. They would move their personal trailer if needed so I could stay. This was also the week of the "eclipse" so it would have been almost impossible to find another site close by. They fed me and kept asking me if I was OK.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Wish we could have done more to help.

Was 7 miles from town, no cell service, and limited internet.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Can't argue with that... except that we're 5 miles from town, and Verizon cell service is 4G with strong signal. It's beautiful up here, isn't it?
Aug 31, 2017
Campground was very busy while we were there so there were few empty FHU spaces. Our space sloped right out the camper door making entry and exit a tall step. Parking was tight for us. Other than this I cannot find anything to complain about here. Everything worked as advertised, even the Wi-Wi worked fairly well for such a busy place. Sketchy AT&T signal, limited TV.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for the review! Working on addressing the sloping sites and adding some new big-rig friendly sites. Not much we can do about internet service and AT&T cell service up here, but continue to look for opportunities to improve.

The campground was very clean and well organized. All RV sites were pull through - - a nice feature. The price per night was right, although I was a little put out when told I would need to pay an extra $10 fee for "Early Check-In"; we checked in at 12:55 PM and hadn't been told about this fee. The camp needs a 2nd set of bathrooms; i.e. none available from 11:00 AM to @ 2:00 PM for cleaning.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for taking the time to review! Our 3pm check-in time is stated on every page of our website, repeated inline on the General Info tab where there is also statement of a fee for early check-in, and is also stated in the email reservation confirmation you received. Early check-in disrupts the morning cleanup routine, thus the charge. Bathrooms close no earlier than noon, usually for 1 hr

We really like your campground and will definitely be staying again soon.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Looking forward to it!

There was nothing wrong with the park. The owners when out of there way to help me stay one more night at the last minute,it's just a long way to the park and the altitude killed me.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Sorry to hear the altitude was a problem. Unfortunately, some people are seriously affected.

Very clean campground. very nice reception office. The Log cabin really adds to the Colorado atmosphere when checking in. Liked the small store area and gift shop.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Glad you enjoyed it!

Unfortunately it rained off and on so we didn't do as many outdoor activities that we would have liked. On the plus side, the office had plenty of movies to keep our grandson busy. It is a very well kept KOA and the office personal are very nice.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Glad you had an enjoyable stay in spite of the weather. We never know what mother nature will bring us... sun to hail to rain to sun is a typical day!

I was put in a spot that when set up my entry was so steep we had a very hard time getting in and out of our unit. The utility connections did not allow us much leeway to position ourselves to get near to the waste receptacle. Even though I booked this stay several months in advance and asked for a 50 amp hookup I was put in a 30 amp and told It was basically my tough luck and could not be moved.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

On Dec 10, 2016 you booked a 30 amp site yourself (online) for Veteran's Rally weekend and were sent an email confirmation clearly highlighting that fact. The mistake was yours alone. Under these circumstances, we gladly accommodate site changes but when you showed up on the single busiest weekend of the year expecting a change, we simply did not have any options for you.

Enjoyed the experience. Great Hosts.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

It served our purpose. We're actually more used to camping in National Forest campgrounds, so a KOA felt a bit crowded. Facilities were great. Showers and bath were spotless. Staff was polite and friendly.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

The campground was built before today's big rigs, so some of the sites are kind of tight. We do have plans to add some new sites very soon, so hope you check back in a year or two. :) Thanks for taking the time to review!

Had a good time. Able to use a little bit bigger fire pit so all of the campers we were with could sit around and enjoy the evening. Thanks again.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for getting the community fire going!

We love Cripple Creek and have stayed at this KOA many times in the past. We love the location, the view, and the serenity. However, this time we had no phone service or tv. They advertise wifi, but it was extremely unreliable. We were parked about 50 ft. From the office but could rarely get it to work. Being senior citizens we felt extremely isolated. We won't be here again.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Unfortunately, our remote location limits our options on internet service providers, and terrestrial satellite is the only viable option. Fortunately, most folks see it as a great opportunity to reconnect with the beautiful outdoors... you know, camping. This is the same service that's been in place for years, so I'm surprised it is only an issue as of your latest stay.
Aug 19, 2017
Staff Very Friendly, very clean facilities, Look forward to returning.
Aug 18, 2017

Nice quiet place. Be aware it is at 10,000 plus feet so it WILL have an effect on your breathing

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Breathe deeply, drink LOTS of water.
Aug 17, 2017
Very nice sites. Clean park and friendly owners.
Aug 17, 2017
We had a late arrival but all the information we needed was waiting for at the office. Very helpful. The shower facilities were nice, clean. Beautiful view, nice quiet stay.
Aug 17, 2017
We stay here once a year. The new owners don't seem to be that friendly maybe because they new. They don't deliver wood or ice like most other KOA's do. It's hard to carry those item up the hill to the higher sites.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

I'm sorry this was your experience as it is not the norm. We pride ourselves on being friendly and I personally deliver wood and ice every chance I get. I suppose you may have purchased when we had only one person working.
Aug 16, 2017
Very clean. Beautiful setting.
Aug 16, 2017
Not really big rig friendly . Pads themselves were fairly level but very narrow for a trailer with big slides . The area where the picnic table was was very unlevel and you really had to be careful when you stepped out of the trailer . Some landscaping to level the entire spot would solve a lot off problems . Very quite except for dogs. We were in a 42 ft toyhauler , needed more room .

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for the candid feedback! We're considering adding some new big-rig sites in the near future. Site leveling is on the top of my list for off-season maintenance this year, so hope you can come back and enjoy the result. :)
