(June 12, 2018) - Listening to our guests and always looking for ways to meet and exceed their expectations, we know that sometimes guests traveling in Class A or Class C motor coaches have unique challenges. Unless you're also towing or have access to another vehicle, getting around town can be extremely limiting once you arrive here at our campground. That's why we are pleased to announce a new, local partnership with Enterprise Rent-a-Car of Benton Harbor, Michigan, exclusively for guests of the Coloma/St. Joseph KOA Holiday.
We have negotiated special, discounted rates, and convenient drop-off & pick up at our campground. Just in time for our peak summer season, interested guests can call us prior to your arrival or ask for more details when you arrive.
(May 23, 2018) It's official! The Coloma/St. Joseph KOA is now a KOA Holiday branded campground! This means we now join the KOA family of campgrounds of KOA Journeys, KOA Holidays, and KOA Resorts. These KOAs feature added amenities and services to make your stay more complete and better meet your expectations.
KOA Holiday branded parks provide guest experiences with upgraded RV Sites with KOA Patios, Deluxe Cabins with full baths for camping comfort, Premium tent sites, group meeting facilities and great activities.
Mark and Karla Lemoine were excited to reach this milestone at the start of the 2018 peak season, and look forward to welcoming thousands of guests to make memories with family and friends, one camping night at a time.
(April 15, 2018) In spite of the cooler temperatures, the Coloma/St. Joseph KOA Holiday welcomed their first guests this past weekend as they opened for the 2018 camping season.
“Our first campers were two German couples traveling through the United States on vacation, followed by ‘snow birds' returning to Michigan from their RVing in the south this winter” said Mark and Karla Lemoine, Owners and Managing Partners, “Hopefully our weather will warm up a bit more once they unpack the sunshine they brought with them,” they quipped.
Building upon several renovations that were accomplished during the past year and a half, including a fully renovated General Store & Café featuring Hunt Brothers Pizza, the Lemoines shared the progress of several upgrades as part of their ongoing rehabilitation efforts. They refurbished the pool deck, installed a new Jumping Pillow, begun renovation to their 2,000 sq. ft. Club House which will be available for campground activities and group rentals, and are nearing completion of five deluxe patio sites which are expected to be available for guests within the next few weeks. The Lemoines were also busy making several infrastructural improvements this winter including replacing all water faucets throughout the park, and purchasing new picnic tables for their 130 sites. They also announced their partnership with Harbor Habitat for Humanity, which is picking up the older picnic tables to be sold in their ReStores. Proceeds from the donated picnic tables will help Harbor Habitat build homes and improve communities locally and around the world. The Lemoines concluded by saying,
“Being active members of our community is deeply important to us. We're pleased to support Habitat as they seek to create affordable housing for families.”
(January 11, 2018) Our local community of Hagar Township is the recipient of State funding that will help develop a park along the banks of the Paw Paw River. Construction of the Riverside Kayak Park will provide paddling enthusiasts with convenient access directly across the street from our campground.
We were pleased to support the work of the Hagar Township Downtown Development Authority as they developed and advanced this project to improve recreational access to the water trail, not only for local residents, but also for our guests.
(October 18, 2017) For the first time in our 44-year history, we are honored to announce that we are recipients of KOA's highest recognition, the 2018 KOA Founder's and President's Awards!
Franchisees who are recognized with KOA's premiere achievement share the vision and dream of KOA's founder, Dave Drum, of providing the highest quality camping facilities while exceeding KOA guests' expectations. As leaders in outdoor hospitality, KOA Founder's Award recipients embody Dave's vision of a KOA Nation providing excellence for generations of campers.
"We are humbled to have received this honor after our first, full season as new owners," said Mark and Karla Lemoine. "Thanks to our amazing staff for all their hard work, and to our guests for their confidence in our hospitality."
It's true that it is better to give than it is to receive. However, there are times when a giver feels they receive more than they gave - such is the case here. In the heart of southwest Michigan, Grace Christian School partners with parents to inspire, educate and equip their children for life-long service. We're happy to join other area businesses as partners, and are pleased to provide summer employment and volunteer opportunities to some of their students.
We love camping and believe no child should be deprived of the experience when life throws them a curve ball. Kids Care Camp is KOA's official charity and provides kids who are battling cancer with a special camping event. Proceeds from our Friday night ice cream socials, holiday pancake breakfasts, and BIG weekend support this cause.
As part of our efforts to give of our time, talent and treasures, we are pleased to engage with Lakeland Healthcare, and demonstrate "the love of mankind," through the philanthropic efforts of the Lakeland Foundation. Leveraging the power of every dollar that is raised, we join with them in our shared passion for the wellness of everyone in the greater Southwest Michigan area.
Recognizing that there are people in need living all around, we are pleased to support Mosaic CCDA. This faith-based organization seeks to restore and develop individuals not only spiritually, but emotionally, physically, economically, and socially. Their job training and community collaboration programs include Mosaic Resale store, Mosaic on Main cafe, Mosaic Property Services offering lawn care and snow plowing services, and Mosaic Market a micro-business local food market.
It takes a team to encourage thousands. We are pleased to be a business partner with WCSG radio as they offer family friendly, commercial free, adult contemporary music and teaching programs. Listener-supported WCSG is part of Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is now heard on five frequencies throughout western Michigan, including 89.9 FM in Benton Harbor.
