(August 26, 2022) As summer winds down and school buses return to the streets across our region, many people are looking to squeeze in at least one more camping trip this season.
As is the case every weekend of the summer, the Coloma/St. Joseph KOA Holiday is poised to once again have a full house, where Kampgrounds of America announced that its research shows more than 25 million travelers will be camping over the upcoming Labor Day holiday.
Fluctuating gas prices and high inflation in many instances caused people to stay closer to home this summer. Additionally, negative travel experiences, including the instability and unreliability of the airline industry, are also contributing to an increase in camping, whether over the summer or looking ahead to fall. Close to half of campers report having negative travel experiences in 2022. As a result they are now choosing to take longer camping trips instead.
As owners of one of the premier campgrounds here in Michigan’s great southwest, Mark and Karla Lemoine and their dedicated team are ready. “We have less than two months left in our season, with tons of availability during the week for adults who like a slower pace and quieter atmosphere,” said Karla. “And then we have fun activities for families during the weekends, including three Harvest/Halloween weekends starting on September 31, where we paint pumpkins, make scarecrows, hold our annual charity Chili Cook-off and the ever popular, ‘Trailer Treating” – our version of Trick-or-Treating where guests decorate their sites and kids and adults alike walk around the park gathering a stash of candy.”
In their sixth record year of growth, following significant investments in their 48-year old campground, the Lemoine’s feel blessed to provide a family-friendly environment where they and their team offer exceptional outdoor hospitality, and allow people throughout greater Michiana an enjoyable recreational experience without needing to go far away from home.
That doesn't mean this area has to always be empty. When you start reviewing camping options, your history will display here to help compare sites and find the best stay. You will be able to share your stay information with friends or family and save it for a later time if you have a KOA Account.
