Richard & Jennifer Burlingham to Join as Operations Managers

(November 1, 2021)  A new era of leadership is underway at the Coloma/St.Joseph KOA Holiday campground, as Richard & Jennifer Burlingham will join as Operations Managers starting next spring, just in time for the 2022 camping season.

Mark & Karla Lemoine, owners of Fifth Level Hospitality, Inc., which operates the campground, made this announcement to their seasonal staff at the close of the 2021 season last month. Their award-winning, nationally-recognized campground has seen dramatic improvements through their leadership. They have become a destination campground, hosting thousands of local guests and attracting those who have traveled to the area.  Through this growth, they are meeting the needs of the national trend that now estimates 81 million Americans enjoy outdoor hospitality experiences at least once a year, an increase of 15 million (19%) since March of 2020.

“After six years of numerous capital improvement projects, we are excited to welcome Richard and Jennifer to work alongside us and join us in this year-round, operations, leadership position,” said Mark. “Our growth gives us confidence that we can now invest in and expand our human capital, leveraging their diverse business background and their shared heart of service and hospitality that we are confident will be experienced by our guests,” he added.

The Burlinghams are familiar faces in the Southwest Michigan region, most recently as owners of their own business, Barn House Basics, LLC in South Haven. They also have a background in construction/maintenance, management and ministry coordinating summer workgroups for Siloam Missionary Homes in Snow Camp, North Carolina.  In this new management role, the Burlinghams will oversee the day-to-day operations of the campground and lead the part-time team leaders and seasonal staff.

Since 2016, the Lemoines have employed between 18-22 individuals each year, which includes adult “Work Campers” and several high school and college age students.   Mark and Karla will continue to be actively engaged in the local business community and enjoy interacting with their guests.

As winter will soon be upon us, the Lemoine’s also confirm that several projects that will continue to improve their guest experience are in motion, and reservations are already being accepted online for next year. Together, with the Burlinghams, they look forward to welcoming guests back for the new season which starts April 15, 2022.
