Recognition at 2021 KOA Convention

Recognition at 2021 KOA Convention

(December 7, 2021) During last month’s annual convention held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mark and Karla, and members of their leadership team, were recognized for receiving KOA’s 2021 Rising Star award due to our success and contributions over their first five years as franchisees. The announcement was originally made during the 2020 convention which was held virtually amidst ongoing government restrictions and public health concerns. Reflecting on this, they shared the following:

We were honored to carry the KOA flag over the past year, demonstrating how the outdoor hospitality industry could not only survive, but thrive, while meeting people’s intrinsic needs to connect with the outdoors and each other.

We are thankful to our three daughters who supported us in this Big Hairy Audacious Goal of being in business for ourselves and who each worked along side us, quitting once or twice because their boss’ at times asked too much.

We are thankful for other family and numerous team members whom contributed their own blood, sweat and tears and who always have free advice of how we can spend money to make our business better.

And most importantly, we praise God for blessing us with thousands of guests who have entrusted us with their time, allowing us to serve the beautiful SW Michigan community, and for giving us the strength to find that faith is stronger than fear.
