There's so much to do on Chincoteague that you could easily spend your entire trip on the island, but part of the fun of travelling is exploring the region you're visiting.
Ocean City, Maryland is a great destination for a day trip when you're staying at Chincoteague Island KOA. This barrier island on the Atlantic ocean has so much to offer, including great dining, fun nightlife, a beautiful beach and a boardwalk that is packed with attractions.
Here are a few can't miss things to do on a day trip to Ocean City
Take a stroll down Ocean City's 2.5-mile boardwalk and you'll find everything from haunted houses and arcades to surf shops, food stands and amusement parks. There's so much to see and do that a day trip to Ocean City could honestly just consist of parking at The Inlet and wandering the boardwalk.
There are a few quintessential stops along the way that you can't miss. A stop at Thrasher's Fries is a must, just don't ask for ketchup. Satisfy your sweet tooth at Dolle's, the caramel popcorn is always a good choice.. An ice cream from Dumser's Dairyland wouldn't hurt either.
Then stroll down the boardwalk and check out all the unique shops. Don't miss the Ocean Gallery. This landmark is easy to spot because the entire exterior of the building is covered in signs, flags and, well, stuff.
If you're looking for a more low key day on the boardwalk just kick back and watch the world go by. It's a great place to people watch.
The wide, sandy beach in Ocean City stretches for miles and miles. It's a great place to play a game of volleyball, soak up the sun, take a swim, go fishing or surf. It's easy to access the beach from The Inlet parking lot or along the boardwalk.
The dining options in Ocean City are out of this world. You can find all of the traditional boardwalk treats like funnel cakes and pizza, but there are so many other flavors to try. Whether you want sushi, authentic Italian, brunch, vegan food, fresh made bagels, barbecue or seafood, you'll find it in Ocean City. Here are a couple of our favorite spots:
Get your fill of fresh seafood at an old-shcool Ocean City classic, Phillips Crab House. Can you really go to Maryland without having a crab cake?
If you're looking for a date night spot, treat yourself to dinner at Liquid Assets. Their selection of cheese and charcuterie is impressive, they have an extensive wine list and their homemade donuts are to die for.
Head over to West Ocean City for delicious food and beautiful views at Shark on the Harbor. They have great lunch specials and a constantly rotating menu that lets local produce, meats and seafood shine.
Pit beef is another classic Ocean City dish. Stop by Bull on the Beach and get a huge pit beef sandwich or fresh seafood from their raw bar.
Ocean City has fun for all ages and the boardwalk isn't the only place where you'll find family fun. Here are just a few of the kid-friendly activities you can look forward to.
Treat the whole family to an experience they'll never forget! Take a speed boat ride on the Sea Rocket or soar high above Ocean City on a parasail. Sea Rocket will turn your kids into dare devils early, kids as young as 4 can fly high on a parasail.
