From Interstate 20 take the #527 exit (HWY 19 exit) off of Interstate 20. Go north on Hwy 19 for 1/2 mile. When you go over the small bridge start slowing down. The entrance to the KOA of Canton is on the east side (right side) of the road. There will be a large entrance sign that reads Silver Spur Resort. The KOA of Canton is within the Silver Spur Resort.

Happy Anniversary Silver Spur Resort! We celebrated the Grand Opening of Durham’s Roost on July 6, 2016 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and “meet & greet” with members of the Canton Texas Chamber of Commerce! Here’s our story of development over the last few years!
Silver Spur is a 35-acre Resort that specializes in exceptional lodging and personalized events. Just an hour outside of Dallas, Silver Spur Resort is an ideal venue for an overnight getaway, a dream wedding weekend, or a fun-filled family vacation. Durham’s Roost was the first phase of the Resort, and since its opening, we’ve enjoyed hosting guests visiting First Monday Trade Days, church groups, family reunions, bridal parties, and more! Guests LOVE the cleanliness and comfy beds!
The Barn at the Silver Spur Resort was the 2nd phase of the Resort. November 2016, we laid the foundation for our beautiful rustic barn, and by September 2017 we hosted our first wedding reception at the Resort. Since then, we’ve been lucky enough to host numerous weddings and other celebrations here at the Barn The kind reviews from our couples and their friends and families even allowed us the opportunity to win The Knot Best of Weddings 2019 award in the venue category!
During that time, we started construction on additional lodging options for our guests. By October 2017, we added 2 cabins to our inventory. Today, we offer 8 cabins and 2 tiny homes to our selection of great lodging options! (Not to worry, these cozy cabins offer the same comfortable beds as Durham’s Roost, so you know you’ll get a great night’s sleep!) Here’s a fun quiz to see which lodging option is right for you!
In March 2018 we started the construction of our “mystery building”. Soon after, we revealed that The Escape Room at the Silver Spur Resort would open that October. Guests tell us they are impressed by how realistic our rooms are, and how much fun they have (whether they escape or not) You can read reviews on Trip Advisor to see why we are ranked one of the top things to do in Canton, Texas!
2018 continued to be a busy year for us. We worked hard that year to prepare our RV park to open by the beginning of 2019. This was much a much later timeframe than originally anticipated, but unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate with us and delayed our construction plans. Our first campers came towards the end of February, and we opened with 20 spaces for the March First Monday Weekend. At this time, we have roughly half of our spaces poured, and once fully completed, the Canton KOA will have about 100 spaces including back in, pull through and patio campsites.
We also established our non-profit, Van Zandt First Responders Fund in 2018! The Mission of the Van Zandt First Responders Fund is to provide necessary assistance to the County’s First Responders when tragedy strikes or extreme family needs arise and to help supplement unfunded equipment purchases to add safety and effectiveness to the operations of agencies within the County. Our biggest fundraiser of the year, First Responder’s Day, is coming up on August 10th! Make sure to come out and support your local first responders!
In April, we were honored to be selected as “Busines of the Year” by the members of the Canton, Texas Chamber of Commerce. We were so excited and humbled to have received this honor, as we have such a great group of businesses in our Chamber! Our deepest thanks go to everyone who voted for us!
And finally, the long-awaited Q & Brew restaurant and brewery has opened on July 1, 2019! Resort guests and Canton locals alike have been sharing their favorite food items and reviews of their experience all week. We are very proud of our team members who work so hard to give our guests the top-notch service and quality experience they have come to expect from Silver Spur Resort!
We want to thank everyone for all the support you have shown us over the last 3 years! What began as a dream of a bed & breakfast and glamping, has blossomed into the resort destination you enjoy today. But we aren’t done yet! There’s still plenty of work to do around here, to complete the vision we have for the Resort. As we continue to grow over the next year, we hope you will continue to visit us, either online or in person, to see all the wonderful things that are happening!
