Walk or Bike the Confederation Trail

  • The Trail entrance is next to Cabin 5.

  • The Trail is built on the old rail bed, which traverses all of PEI

  • 4 Wheelers for Kids
  • 2 Wheelers to take on the Confederation Trail

THINGS TO DO WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OR A SHORT DRIVE


The beach in Borden

  • A great place to see beach sunsets. Best visited at low tide

  • Go left when you exit the Campground onto the Confederation Trail

  • Follow the Trail and then turn right onto Beach Road


Gateway Village

  • Shops and Restaurants, including Tim Hortons, Cows Ice Cream, Lone Oak Brewery and Eatery, Liquor Store

    • Walking

      • Go left when you exit the Campground onto the Confederation Trail    

      • Follow the Trail into the Town of Borden

      • Turn right on Abegweit Ave

    • Driving

      • Turn right when you exit the campground

      • Turn left just past the Irving onto Borden Ave

      • Turn right onto Abegweit Ave


Borden Marine Rail Park

  • A terrific place for photos of the bridge!

  • Directions same as above except go to the end of Borden Ave



SHORT DRIVES BETWEEN 15 MINS TO 2 HRS


Cheldon Beach

  • Great south shore beach with warm, calm water. Low tide is best!

Argyle Shore

  • Provincial Park area highlighting the red cliffs surrounded by sand bars. Authentic PEI!

  • Great for swimming with warm, calm waters

Kinkora 

  • Stop for an Ice Cream or have a meal at O’Shea’s - an authentic Irish Pub

Victoria by the Sea

  • A charming, historic, sea coast village 

  • Great food and great views 

  • A great place for a lobster supper!

  • Take in a show

Bedeque

  • Visit the Bedeque Historical Museum. A Large collection of artifacts relating to the social and cultural history of the general Bedeque area, with exhibits on the Acadian and Loyalist settlements of the area, on the culture of the Mi’kmaq, on Callbecks Store, and on the Borden ferry service, which ran from 1917 to 1997.

  • Food

    • Go to Baba’s Kitchen for a great meal

Summerside

  • Spinnakers Landing has shops and restaurants along the waterfront

  • Take in a show at the Waterfront Theater or the College of Piping

  • Walk the boardwalk


GREAT DAY TRIPS


Allow a day for these trips if you want to fully enjoy them!

  • Charlottetown

    • A 45 minute drive, lots of restaurants and shops

    • Walk the boardwalk at Victoria Park

    • Visit the shops and restaurants at Peakes Wharf

    • Take in a show at the Confederation Center of the Arts

    • Go to the Red Shores Racetrack and Casino

  • Cavendish

    • A 45 minute drive

    • Ocean Beaches for swimming or walking

    • Anne of Green Gables

    • Great Golf Courses

  • French River Shore

    • Driving time from here for the whole circuit is about 1 ½ hrs, but take time to explore!

    • One of the most scenic drives in PEI

    • Travel from here to New London, then French River, Darnley, Malpeque, and on to Kensington.

    • Terrific beaches for walking, swimming or sunbathing. Visit our favorite, Thunder Cove!

    • Some great eating spots along the way

      • O’Neils in French River

      • Ship to Shore in Darnley

      • Island Stone Pub in Kensington

  • North Cape

    • Allow 90 minutes driving each way, if you are going along the shore

    • Drive the east side through Alberton, then up through Kildare, then on to North Cape

    • Walk some of the North Cape Trail for the amazing scenery

    • Return on the west shore and see Skinners Pond, home of Stompin Tom Connors. The beach there is amazing.

    • Work your way back through Abram’s Village, Egmont Bay, Evangeline, and Miscouche. The cornerstone of French heritage in PEI.

      • The Potato Museum in O’Leary

      • West Point Lighthouse

      • Cape Egmont Lighthouse

      • Bottle House near Egmont

      • Acadian Museum in Miscouche
