Check into this high desert campground in the red-rock wilderness of southern Utah, and you will soon discover that Moab lives up to its billing as the state's "Adventure Capital." Hundreds of miles of hiking, biking and four-wheel-drive trails fan out from this Colorado River community across bluffs and mesas and into spectacular badlands. Sign up for a guided rafting tour or set out on your own for a day's drive among the dramatic rock formations and sweeping desert vistas of Arches and Canyonlands national parks. (Many tours will pick you up-and drop you off-right at the campground.) Big shade trees mark the Moab KOA. The heated pool means the water is just right on cool desert evenings. Campers appreciate the private family-style bathroom and shower facilities.
