Rock Island / Quad Cities KOAMeet Your Hosts Ten years ago, the Rock Island KOA looked a lot different than it does now. In fact, when current owners John and Carole Downing saw it, they thought it was a "wreck of a park but knew it could be beautiful," John said. "We are very pleased with taking what it was and making it beautiful," John said. "It is noticeable to people who don't even use the park, like the locals." People in the area commend them for their improvements, while the city identified their campground as an asset. When they bought their business, they were just looking to get into the campground market and thought a KOA franchise would be the best option. Before their campground ownership, John was a tax accountant and Carole was (and still is) and elementary education teacher. Back then and today they like to read and visit with their family. The Downings are pleased with the number of families that stay in their park. "This is a total turnaround from before," John said. Today the campground is loaded with children playing, and the KOA caters to them with activities and outdoor recreational attractions. "We try to identify a way to treat the customer as they would personally like to be treated," John said. Come meet John and Carole Downing. |
