The Craters of the Moon/Arco KOA (formerly known as the Landing Zone RV Park) is only about 19 miles from the Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve. The area is a vast ocean of lava flows with scattered islands of cinder cones and sagebrush. The weird and scenic landscape is where ancient volcanic events seem like they could have happened yesterday. The town of Arco is known as the first city to be lit up with electricity from atomic energy. At the campground, there is plenty of shade for hot summer days. There's even a meeting room for small groups. Don't want to cook? Try fresh pizza from the campground store while your kids enjoy the playground and unusual landscape.
