Camp near the state capital, where you can watch the legislature in action and tour the capitol building. Then explore Old Sacramento, the California State Railroad Museum, the Crocker Art Museum and Sutter’s Fort. Meander through Gold Country and pan for fortunes. Enjoy river cruises on the Sacramento River. Shop at outlet malls or spend a hot day cooling off at Waterworld USA. The campground offers 90-foot-long pull thrus, Kamping Kabins by the fishing pond and ample tent sites for your group. The meeting pavilion can hold up to 50 people. Rent a bicycle or pedal boat, swim in the pool or go sight­seeing. Since you’re in the capital, why not be democratic and vote on what to do next?

California State Capitol Museum

The State Capitol Museum provides an opportunity to tour this magnificent restoration, and to see how laws are made. Offers guided tours, exhibit rooms and films to make your visit complete. Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Sunday.

California State Railroad Museum

The California State Railroad Museum is the largest and finest interpretive museum of its kind in North America, displaying 21 restored locomotives, cars and 46 exhibits. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Crocker Art Museum

Art for all ages can be found in this spectacular restored Victorian building filled with early California paintings. The Crocker Art Museum is the oldest public art museum in the West. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday thru Sunday.

Historic Old Sacramento

At Historic Old Town Sacramento, attractions to do include Visitor Center, Riverboat Delta King Hotel, Riverboat Cruises, Pony Express Monument, Old Sacramento Schoolhouse, Horse-Drawn Carriages and Old Sacramento Market Site.

Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park

At Sutter's Fort State Historic Park, self-guided tours with radio-wands explain the exhibit rooms, which include carpenter’s and blacksmith’s shops, a bakery, prison, dining room and living quarters as well as special exhibits museum space and a visitor orientation room. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Golfing

Enjoy golfing on Bing Maloney Golf Course. It is an 18-hole championship course.

Six Flags Marine World

From Shouka the killer whale to Medusa the tallest and loopiest roller coaster in Northern California, Six Flags Marine World is home to more than 3,000 animals, 35 fun-filled roller coasters and 11 great shows. Marine World is America’s first combination wildlife park, oceanarium and theme park is an interactive dolphin and penguin encounter.

Gold Country

Some points of interest are Angels Camp Museum, California Caverns, California Towe Ford Museum, Folsom Dam, Sacramento Zoo, etc.

Snow Skiing

Discovery Park

Just a few miles north of Old Sacramento, Discovery Park has a six-lane launching area and small-craft launch along the American River, with picnic tables, barbecues, restrooms and drinking fountains. It is also the starting point for a 32-mile bicycle trail that ends in Folsom.W.A.

San Francisco - Fisherman's Warf, Alcatraz, Lombard Street
