Encompassing over 800 square miles of pristine wilderness, it stands as one of America's most visited national parks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Renowned for its mist-shrouded peaks, the park is aptly named for the ethereal bluish haze that often envelops the mountains. This atmospheric phenomenon, created by the interaction of moisture, vegetation, and sunlight, lends the region a mystique that captivates visitors year-round.Whether marveling at the autumn foliage, capturing the misty sunrise over Clingmans Dome—the park's highest point—or simply immersing oneself in the tranquility of the ancient mountains, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers an unforgettable experience for nature enthusiasts and history buffs alike.
