Local Area Activities
Mountain Home is centrally located between beautiful mountains, the Snake river, Bruneau sand dunes, and Idaho's capital city of Boise. Almost any activity you desire is just a short drive away..Mountain Home is surrounded by lakes and rivers. Great acsess to swimming and fishing. Trout, Bass, and Sturgeon fishing just to name a few. Mountain Home was originally a post office at Rattlesnake Station, a stagecoach stop on the Overland Stage Line, about seven miles (11 km) east of the city, on present-day US-20 towards Fairfield. With the addition of theOregon Shortline railroad in 1883, the post office was moved downhill and west to the city's present site. elevation of 3,146 feet (959 m) above sea level.

Air Force Appreciation Day
Air Force Appreciation Day is held on the first Saturday after Labor Day. A jet fly by starts the longest parade in the state of Idaho, and one of the only parades left that throw candy to the audience. Free food provide in Carl Miller Park. This activity is funded by the City of Mountain Home to thank and show appreciation to the local Air Force Base for all they do in protection of our freedoms.
