We made reservations 5 months in advance, in the comments of the reservation request we had requested to be in a tent site next to family(we provided the name). When we both arrived and were received in, we were were told that we were in 2 completely different sections of the resort! How does that happen? Do you not read the comments? The receiving person had no idea if the tent sites were grass?

It’s a beautiful facility. Some of the facilities were not available, such as the climbing wall, trampoline and water slide. Overall, it was a great place to be.

There are very few restrooms for the amount of people at this resort and bathrooms are quite a distance from some sites. Also the amenities that we were looking forward to with kids often had long lines or were closed/down for repairs.

Amenities were great, loved all the extras available. Campsites, bathrooms, and everything were kept clean. We did not enjoy the fact campers were so packed in, people were everywhere like sardines. And people were very loud well past the 10 pm "quiet hours". It was great for the kids (our campsite had a playground right behind it! Loved that!) But it just might not be right for us.

All the workers were horrible!!!!!!!!! I noticed that they all seemed foreign, as well as the ones in mt Rushmore and when I spoke with them they told Me they were on work visas. They have bad attitudes and zero customer service skills. First and last time we stay at one of these places.

We were given a campsite that crossed over a water way leading to the lake, #029. The water way had boards for the two campsites, 029 and 030 to use to cross this water to get to the bathrooom and the bathroom were surrounded by RV (you know those things that are large and most have their own bathrooms!) It rained and things just got worse, car almost got stuck several times. Don't camp at these 2

Our second time camping here. We had site 30 this time, right by the pond. We had a big divot by the fire pit and the crew was quick to add gravel so we wouldn’t trip on accident. I would say that site needs to be re graded. It was majorly sloped, it made sitting around the camp fire dangerous as you were tilted and we fell over a few times. Besides that the resort is great with lots of activiti

My experiences at KOA's have not been great...up until this point. We planned a Mt Rushmore trip, and I am 100% happy we chose the KOA to stay. 3 days and 4 nights. We went over Memorial Day weekend. You will get rain and some inclement weather. We packed most of our food, but we did partake in the pancake breakfast. Kid loved it. We rented a UTV for an afternoon for 2hrs. Worth it. You go on the back trails, and if you are adventurous enough, go on the gnarly trails too. You can drive UTV's on the open road here as long as yours is street legal with plates, I believe. This was the perfect base camp for the following activities in the area: Mt Rushmore, Bear Country, Keystone, Hill City, Rapid City, The 1880 Train (the train was ok, good for kids who haven't been on an old steamer.) The camp grounds themselves are great! Pool, shopping, horseback riding, little shops to visit. We made some really great memories here. Thanks, KOA! PS: Keep in mind, this area is 'Merica friendly...In other words, treat people right and you'll be treated right. Do not play games with the locals, the black hills are vast. Just sayin.

This campground is awesome for everyone. We have been coming here for 5 years now at least one time year usually in August. We have 4 kids from age 5 to 15 and they all love it here. It has 2 pools playgrounds volleyball horseback riding utv rentals bike rentals restaurants ice cream shop small store for groceries and camping stuff wine shop and the kids love to play with all the other kids there. We don't have a camper so we stay in the cabins and they work great for the 6 of us. They have multiple bathrooms and shower house throughout the grounds to use and a laundry mat there. We never had any problems staying here and will keep coming back every year. There is a lot of things to do within an hour drive also. I would definitely recommend this place for people with kids of all ages.
