We wont be back! The sites are tight, ours was not mowed and dirty upon arrival (several loose trash items) we had to ask twice for our site to be cleaned. The mens room was disgusting and the ladies always seemed to be out of paper. The shower rooms had mold on the walls, ceiling and the grout. They seem far more concerned w extra amenities than cleanliness and customer service.

Everything was good camp site was a little tight getting into. And there was few tree stumps sticking up 4-6 inches high to trip over Wright in our walking path. Not sure why they weren’t cut at ground level.

We booked 2 nights, wish we booked longer. Beautiful campground, so much fun for the kids. Will definitely be back for a longer stay!

Its why we stayed here.

No hot water in the shower also dirty floors with no shower Mat. The camp site was Very small barley enough Room for the picnic table And fire pit

Our site was not very level. This problem could be fixed with about $150 of gravel. Not doing this implies a lack of pride in the sites of the campground.

Our site was too close to the one next to us to enjoy it. We will come back but choose a different apace/area to stay next time!

Your KOA is perfect.

We stayed in the RV section for 4 days while at a family reunion in cabins, etc. What a HUGE and WONDERFUL KOA!!! So much to see and do within the campground including rentals of golf carts, Pancake breakfasts - literally outside our door - things for kids to do a great gift shop and chuck wagon dinner. Plus being close to Keystone, Mt. Rushmore and Custer state park. It was awesome!!!

The spaces were very tight, smoke was very bad from all the campfires

Amenities were great. Site was not great and felt like this was added because there was just a little bit extra land to cram a spot into. Very hard to get in and out of and had no parking and was barely long enough for my trailer.

No Wi-Fi. Very tight sites. Charged for pets, without any reason provided previously in paperwork.

This is a very large KOA. It has a lot of activities, small shops, and breakfast available. I had mechanical problems with my motorhome. They were booked solid and made it possible to stay more nights for parts to come in. I would recommend this KOA if going to Mt Rushmore close to the National Park entrance.

We had such a great time! The rodeo was fantastic, so organized and fun to watch! My kids loved it! Pool was nice, although the water slide is very cold! The playground was great and overall so much to do! Even in the rain my kids had the best time riding bikes and going for ice cream. The little ice cream/pizza shop was great! I loved the coffee/wine shop, definitely my fav! Can't wait to go back

We had a break down and the folks there allowed us to pull.our RV off to a quit section, told us we could stay as long as it would take to get repaired. Thanks to the employees of Palmer Gulch

Amazing facility with a lot to do for the kids. Would appreciate having better Wi Fi. Based on the size and quality of the campground, I think this should be something to improve on in the future.

Poorly kept sites. Charged a fee for pets, but there was no prior information about this fee in any of their literature. We should be refunded for that. Very tight spots, with very little gravel. The onsite restaurant was good.

This campground has everything! We moved our stay and can’t wait to comeback for another trip. If you are planning on a 1 night stay so you can see Rushmore and CrazyHorse add an extra night to just hang out. We did the horse back riding and our guide Cas was Amazing!!!! So much to offer

Great views, beautiful horses and happy kid adventures if you are a family with kids it’s perfect. Site was a little tight but definitely pick deluxe for size. Comfortable outdoor quality furniture, and good outdoor tent breakfast. Super convenient to Custer, Crazy Horse and Mt Rushmore. Their lodge store is great and grounds nice and clean, as are the shower/bath houses. Thanks!

This is a fantastic campground to stay at, great for kids of all ages, aors to do here. We have stayed here for several years for the Sturgis Rally and the place is always Quiet at night. And the free Rodeo for the campers is wonderful.

Even though it rained every day we were there we still made the best of the trip.

Very nice stay for all ages in our group. Staff was very patient, nice and helpful - especially with the resort so full and busy. We’re already planning next year there

Great amenities for the whole family! Clean and fully tiled bathrooms and showers. Very clean. Will definitely return in the future!

This was our first time staying here and my family had a great time. We are already planning on coming back next year!

Wonderful campground with friendly staff and a variety of activities! The only negative is: the restrooms and showers near the upper 300s sites need some cleaning/repairs/TLC.

We love palmar gulch- our second time in a row staying. We wish on 244 coming west would have a sign notifying that the KOA would be within so many miles. In the dark we miss it and trying to turn around an RV doesn’t make it easy. The eastern side of 244 has a sign and we have yet to miss it, but is more exposed. We’re young but feel elderly would also benefit from signage.

Nice campground well taken care of
Aug 06, 2023
Site not long enough to fix car and 31’ camper, wfiy doesn’t work very well, older kids did good
Aug 06, 2023
The site 156 that they put me in was 1-2 feet short, my motorhome/towed vehicle, hung in the roadway, Ialso next to the dumpster, which meant people were slamming the lid in the constantly. Also, next to the showers which meant people were parking in our spot to take showers, people were constantly walking through our site, check in lady was not the friendlies.

KOA with all your needs! Staff are very friendly and professional! Beautiful park with so many amenities!
Aug 06, 2023
Your showers in station 4 are disgusting. The stools are covered in dirt, and the shower curtains have black mold on them. For how large your space is, you can throw down $10 for a new curtain and stool. Everything else was great

If your looking for family fun this is the place! The staff and maintenance workers were top notch, we had an issue with our electric box and within minutes someone was there to look at and fix it. The whole campground was clean. This place is close to a lot of hiking, sites to see and thinga to do. Our family will be back. We loved making memories here!

My experiences at KOA's have not been great...up until this point. We planned a Mt Rushmore trip, and I am 100% happy we chose the KOA to stay. 3 days and 4 nights. We went over Memorial Day weekend. You will get rain and some inclement weather. We packed most of our food, but we did partake in the pancake breakfast. Kid loved it. We rented a UTV for an afternoon for 2hrs. Worth it. You go on the back trails, and if you are adventurous enough, go on the gnarly trails too. You can drive UTV's on the open road here as long as yours is street legal with plates, I believe. This was the perfect base camp for the following activities in the area: Mt Rushmore, Bear Country, Keystone, Hill City, Rapid City, The 1880 Train (the train was ok, good for kids who haven't been on an old steamer.) The camp grounds themselves are great! Pool, shopping, horseback riding, little shops to visit. We made some really great memories here. Thanks, KOA! PS: Keep in mind, this area is 'Merica friendly...In other words, treat people right and you'll be treated right. Do not play games with the locals, the black hills are vast. Just sayin.

This campground is awesome for everyone. We have been coming here for 5 years now at least one time year usually in August. We have 4 kids from age 5 to 15 and they all love it here. It has 2 pools playgrounds volleyball horseback riding utv rentals bike rentals restaurants ice cream shop small store for groceries and camping stuff wine shop and the kids love to play with all the other kids there. We don't have a camper so we stay in the cabins and they work great for the 6 of us. They have multiple bathrooms and shower house throughout the grounds to use and a laundry mat there. We never had any problems staying here and will keep coming back every year. There is a lot of things to do within an hour drive also. I would definitely recommend this place for people with kids of all ages.
