Cabin Reviews

Jul 06, 2015
This is an amazing place to stay and the staff is very friendly. Lots of things for kids and adults to do!
Jul 06, 2015
This is our second stay and we absolutely love it. The only recommendation is to ventilate the bathrooms, they are stuffy and damp. Thank you!
Jul 06, 2015
Website advertises most cabins are climate controlled and free Wi-Fi is available at every site. Neither are true. We arrived to a cabin without A/C and no Wi-Fi to be found. Also had very little room to park our small car and the fire ring was literally a foot from the road. Pool/splash area was nice for our son.
Jul 06, 2015
Our cabin was filthy and restrooms were too far away down hilly uneven terrain
Jul 05, 2015
Beds were not very comfortable
Jul 05, 2015
One of our kids said "good" and the other said "fantastic". We enjoyed the Kamper Cabin, especially when it kept us dry during the storm. Beds were simple but comfortable. Pools were a good size and basketball hoops were great. Lots to do for all ages. Great central location for most activities in the Black Hills - only 10 minutes from Mt. Rushmore and 15 from both Keystone and Hill City.

REAL NICE

Paid $100 for cabin with no air, dirty floor, steep hillside to get to one of the few and far away bathrooms. Disappointed.

Love it here! A great location and friendly staff. Lots to do!
Jul 03, 2015
Variety of activities available, location great, could use more shade around camping cabins and play areas
Jul 03, 2015
Big campground with lots of people! We were crowded around our cabin. KOA kept putting tent campers in a site right in front of our porch. There couldn't have been 10' between sites when there were other less crowded spots. The resort has many amenities but is over crowded. A good place to stay if you want to be around a lot of people.

A lot to do but chaotic. Need a specific track to keep rental bikes off the roads. Need pedestrian paths to keep them off the roads. Water slide broken. cabins were hot - need a/c.
Jul 02, 2015
Great amenities. Would have rather had cabin with plumbing. Thought things like shuttle to Mount Rushmore and chuckwagon rides were included in price of stay. Felt misled from website.
Jul 01, 2015
We had a great time at the Kampground. The only thing that we were disappointed in was the WIFI. It was really hard to get connected to and when we could was usually after midnight.
Jul 01, 2015
The bathrooms behind our cabin were poorly maintained/cleaned. The door to our cabin squeeked so loud! We were disappointed the water slide wasn't open. We know this is a great place to stay...but a few things were different this time.
Jul 01, 2015
Great kamp, lots to do and lots of places to explore close...would have ask for cabin closer to showers and bath house if to do again

Bathrooms and showers need remodeling

Very nice cabin. Lots of activities to keep the kids busy. The fire pit was a bit too close to the cabin and the smoke from the pit blew directly into the cabin on most nights.

Great location! Very close to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Lots of free or inexpensive activities right on site.

Over all it we had a great stay, our kids enjoyed the activities the KOA had to offer. I understand that this is a large KOA with lots of people coming and going, but the bathrooms/showers by our cabin were never clean. One toilet was never plunged the length of our stay. I saw the cleaning crew, unmotivated teenagers, parked by the restrooms but never saw them actually clean anything.

Great fun zone that the kids really enjoyed, and the super clean bathrooms were very nice.... But, they were too far apart for the middle of the night.

Great stay!
Jun 29, 2015
Everything was good except I felt they could clean up the bathrooms more.

We enjoyed our stay at KOA Campground. IT was so relaxing and enjoyable place to stay.

My grandson and I had a great time. Nice cabin good food and people were friendly. Thanks.

The people were great very helpful. Could not have been better.

There were so many wonderful things to do at this KOA. We had a fantastic time! The bathrooms were not as clean as desired. The showers were somewhat scary. However, the environment was beautiful, and there were so many wonderful, family friendly activities that we absolutely enjoyed.

As always we had a wonderful time and look forward to visiting again next year!!
Jun 28, 2015
Amazing place with a ton of things for the kids to do. I loved the location as well it was minutes to alot of attractions. Just need to keep the showers cleaner, outside of that great place and highly recommend it.
Jun 28, 2015
YOU COULD STAY HERE 2 WEEKS AND STILL ONLY SCRATCH THE SURFACE OF WHAT THEY OFFER. GREAT BASE CAMP.
Jun 28, 2015
Kids really really really loved the bounce pillow, and the pools! Next time we come we hope to ride the horses!! The one thing I wish there was more of, is hooks in the showers (over by the 400 cabins).
Jun 28, 2015
The Bathrooms were so dirty and the toilets were always over flowing the showers were awful. You need to separate the tents form the rest of the camp. And you need a better system for finding your cabin. The water was also awful and undrinkable. If the Pool is for Adults after 9PM the enforce it. It will be a long time before i ever go to another KOA.

After misjudging the weather and 2 nights in a tent with my 15 year old Daughter They had no problem upgrading us to a cabin that made all the difference of a home camp while we explored the Black Hills in SD
Jun 28, 2015
Great place. A few disappointments. Waterslide was not working.. Rock climbing hours closed too early. Bathrooms/showers up on hill were BAD (dirty and awful smell). Cabin door squeeked so loud! We will come back but hope to see some improvements:)
Jun 28, 2015
AWESOME!!! That should cover it!
Jun 27, 2015
the crew were very helpful and friendly
Jun 27, 2015
Great activities at this KOA. Very big but nice facilities. Bathrooms were clean and convenient, cabins were well maintained. Staff was quick to respond to a request for assistance. Restaurant on site was pretty good too.
Jun 27, 2015
is just wonderful
Jun 26, 2015
Fun place with lot's to do. They tend to short staff themselves at times, especially the cleaning crew. Also, it's a crime to advertise that they have Wifi because it NEVER works. With that said, their Summershiners are great this year! Turtle town is good in Hill City and Keystone, but the one in the KOA is dirty and slow.
Jun 26, 2015
Great family resort!
Jun 26, 2015
Very clean campground and showers. Wifi never worked when we were there. No cell phone reception unless you were at Mt. Rushmore!
Jun 26, 2015
This was my 4th stay at your beautiful KOA but the first time for my parents who stayed in the Palmer Gulch Lodge. From the reservation process for both locations to our stay everything was great. I love this location and won't stay anywhere else in the Hills.
Jun 26, 2015
No chair in cabin No WIFI for Apple products High cost
Jun 26, 2015
Even though we got heavily rained on during our stay, the dryers helped us clean it all up and the staff was great about transferring us to a cabin for the second night
Jun 25, 2015
Overall great experience. Baths/showers by 2nd pool should be cleaned more often. Very sandy, wet and slippery.
