Very clean. Very family friendly. The showers and restrooms could use some work. But loved the our stay.

It’s a nice place but way to expensive for a tent site.

We had a very nice time. The only issue was the showers were not terribly clean.

After night check in did not go smoothly, no envelope up front after a long drive made for a frustrating situation.

Great fun and Nathaneal was such a tremendous help with getting us a site closer to the rest of the family, he was terrific!! We had a great stay with lots of activity there and around Palmer Gulch. Only one thing needs some correction is the bathrooms/shower facility. There is so much use since are so many travelers, it needs to be cleaned oftener. Once a-day is not enough, twice would work!

Site #87 should not have anything above 35 ft.

We stayed in our first cabin at a KOA at this resort and it was fantastic. The beds were comfy, had electricity and was able to secure the door while away. Bathrooms were the CLEANEST of all KOA's during our 21-day road trip cross country!

When reservation was made I was assured we would have sites at time of booking- January. When we arrived we were told by staff our cabin site had been changed 3times. Do we were not able to placed next to our friends we had made the reservation with. When problems arose supervisor was only willing to discuss and come out of back room when we insisted on visiting with her! Extremely disappointed!

One of the best KOA's we camped at. Clean, staff was wonderful, lots of activities for the kids, close to Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Absolutely 5 stars!

The sites are extremely tight and people have trailers sticking out into the roads because they don't fit on their sites. There is also no cell service and the wifi only works at the main office.
Jul 18, 2023
The ONLY disappointment was the offer of Free WIFI. There is NO WIFI. This FREE WIFI is misleading please advertise as it is don’t say you have wifi. I would probably go somewhere else to have real Wi-Fi

Amazing place for our family to stay on our first Mount Rushmore trip! Super clean facilities and lots of extra fun stuff to do.

My wife and I decided to stay at Palmer Gulch because it was very centralized for what we wanted to do. The staff was great. We went on the bridal trail our guide Anna was amazing. Thanks Anna for a very enjoyable ride. Remember always tight lines.

It's was very enjoyable. Lots of things to do, especially for kids. The pancake breakfast was a complete time saver. Ice Cream is a nice way to end the day. The internet needs lots of attention.

The employees were very kind and accommodating. The grounds were clean and there was so much to do. The activities were well organized and well kept and in order. Beautiful grounds and would definitely stay again.

Strange lot we had. Not level but made due. Nice people all around. Parking up front was very difficult even if you needed to just stop for firewood. Location was perfect for mt. Rushmore or Crazy horse.

We had a great time at this beautiful campground. We have been here many times in the past. The campground was well maintained and kept clean. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the bathhouse was. Also, at our campsite we had a gas grill, and it was very clean upon my arrival.

We loved it! Great staff, clean facilities, and fun activities. Ideal location central to everything we wanted to see and do. Only wish we had a little more shade. Overall top notch!

Our site was a mud pit. We asked the front desk if they could lay down extra gravel or wood chips so we wouldn't be walking through mud every time we needed to get into our camper. We were told there was nothing they could do and they have simply had a lot of rain lately. Unacceptable. We had our kids fill up small buckets of gravel from the road and pour it in our mud pits. Poor service here

This is the 3rd time I have brought my family to this KOA. We have the best time when we stay here! We will be back again!

The site required me to use 2 blocks on each left trailer wheel. Sewer wasn’t set in place and loose. Electric box was loose and tilled over making it more difficult to avoid with slide out. The tree dropped a lot of sap on my vehicle. Other then that it was ok and close to Mt Rushmore

This is a flagship rv resort and our family of 4 enjoyed our stay. There are plenty of activities for kids and horseback riding was super fun! This is not the cheapest but well worth the extra costs to keep the kids busy. I recommend you google satellite photos before booking and select your sight accordingly. Some loops are open others are tight. We did six nights which was perfect! 9.5/10!

We made reservations 5 months in advance, in the comments of the reservation request we had requested to be in a tent site next to family(we provided the name). When we both arrived and were received in, we were were told that we were in 2 completely different sections of the resort! How does that happen? Do you not read the comments? The receiving person had no idea if the tent sites were grass?

Great stay Spot #405 it would be nice if the spaces were level. Hard to level coach and couldn’t use the picnic table with the slope. Lots of activities for the kids. Nice comfort stations

After 20 years of staying at Palmer Gulch we still love it. We are already talking about next years stay. You get ten Stars! Very very very good! Thank you so much!

Loved all the amenities! So much for the kids to do! Ashley helped me check in and went above and beyond to help. Everyone was so kind to my family! We have been coming for years and are never disappointed!

It’s a beautiful facility. Some of the facilities were not available, such as the climbing wall, trampoline and water slide. Overall, it was a great place to be.

The staff was accommodating for the reservation changes that I made, it was way to expensive for a one room cabin in the middle of the week, I would not recommend it because it's gotten to crowded

Great Campground with lots to do. WIFI signal was spotty at our site. We hoped to use WIFI since there was no cell reception. Overall, a great stay.

We enjoyed the KOA and they have a lot to offer, however sites are pretty cramped.

Amazing!!! Our family of five had an absolute blast, the amenities they have are so awesome, the basketball court was great! The kids loved the swimming pool, so nice there’s more than one! They had activities, pancakes, we will surely be back again!!!

Loved our cabin and all the activities. We just had difficulty communicating in a big group without cell phone coverage. Otherwise everything was GREAT!

Very clean & lots of activities for the grandkids!

Nice facility but sites were pretty close to each other. The Wi-Fi is almost non-existent. Great pancakes breakfast and enjoyed the trip to Mount Rushmore evening light show.

There was always something to do. For having kids addicted to the internet, they were bummed at first but didn't want to leave by the end.

My experiences at KOA's have not been great...up until this point. We planned a Mt Rushmore trip, and I am 100% happy we chose the KOA to stay. 3 days and 4 nights. We went over Memorial Day weekend. You will get rain and some inclement weather. We packed most of our food, but we did partake in the pancake breakfast. Kid loved it. We rented a UTV for an afternoon for 2hrs. Worth it. You go on the back trails, and if you are adventurous enough, go on the gnarly trails too. You can drive UTV's on the open road here as long as yours is street legal with plates, I believe. This was the perfect base camp for the following activities in the area: Mt Rushmore, Bear Country, Keystone, Hill City, Rapid City, The 1880 Train (the train was ok, good for kids who haven't been on an old steamer.) The camp grounds themselves are great! Pool, shopping, horseback riding, little shops to visit. We made some really great memories here. Thanks, KOA! PS: Keep in mind, this area is 'Merica friendly...In other words, treat people right and you'll be treated right. Do not play games with the locals, the black hills are vast. Just sayin.

This campground is awesome for everyone. We have been coming here for 5 years now at least one time year usually in August. We have 4 kids from age 5 to 15 and they all love it here. It has 2 pools playgrounds volleyball horseback riding utv rentals bike rentals restaurants ice cream shop small store for groceries and camping stuff wine shop and the kids love to play with all the other kids there. We don't have a camper so we stay in the cabins and they work great for the 6 of us. They have multiple bathrooms and shower house throughout the grounds to use and a laundry mat there. We never had any problems staying here and will keep coming back every year. There is a lot of things to do within an hour drive also. I would definitely recommend this place for people with kids of all ages.
