We felt like the staff was very professional and friendly. We were there 2 days with water and electric and when another campsite that had full hook ups opened up they made sure we knew it was available. We didn’t have any complaints at all and highly recommend Palmer Gulch KOA!

All though we were only there for a short stay we enjoyed our stay and felt that the accomadations were well provided and there were alot of things to do. We would definately recommend to ur family and friends that camp to stay at your facility.

Reserved section 13 months out, the site selected by team was uneven and the bench was broken. Bench is unsafe with screw that stick out. It is disappointing that i made a $100+ deposit 13 months in advance for a premium site. Your primary job of koa campground is simple and maintain a level site and working amenities. This KOA VIP membership is false representation, most likely will not ren

We stay for bike week. Great location. Everything is clean & well taken care off. It would be nice to have better wifi. That is the thing I would like to see improved. Booked again for next year!!

Beautiful campground loved it!

Our area was very noise. With little grandkids noise after 10-11 is unacceptable!!

Amazing accommodations and a perfect cabin! The only issue was that the bathroom cleaning crew took 3 hours to clean the showers from 6-9pm at night one night and after they left the showers weren’t even clean. Pretty inconvenient but didn’t ruin the trip, definitely would stay again!

The restaurant food was just OK. The floor near our table shook tremendously every time someone walked by. The laundry room #3 had 3 dryers out of order and the coin machine wasn't working. There was no WiFi signal for us. The cabin could benefit having a chair inside. Good location and a few fun things for kids. We decided that all things considered, we should have brought our RV or got a ho

The setting is absolutely beautiful. We did the pancake breakfast for the kids in the morning, and you receive more than enough food! There is a nice restaurant as well as a bar onsite (wished the bar would've been open a little longer). The bathrooms and laundry facilities are very clean. We wished that we could have stayed one more day here. Easy drive to Mount Rushmore with our motorhome.

We loved most of the amenities, including the pool, minigolf, water slide, and rock climbing wall. We were pretty disappointed with "Comfort Station 4". The showers and bathrooms were pretty disgusting. We saw a few younger workers pull up in a cart to clean them at one point in time, and we used the facilities shortly thereafter, but didn't think they had been cleaned well at all.

Just wanted to tell you that the afternoon we stayed in the cabin it rained a lot so we got flooded inside the cabin there was so much water by the door and the window in the main bedroom you guys need to check that out. Thanks!

We stayed 3 days and thought it was reasonable and good camp overall. However, the internet was the worst. KOA should invest in better and faster internet. Facilities need an upgrade with better cleanliness. Curtains were moldy and coming apart. Customer service could be better. Especially in the restaurants and food handling. Kids loved the activities and pools.

The cleanliness of the restrooms and showers has deteriorated. We have been staying here for many years. we noticed that the people cleaning spent more time playing around rather than doing there job which explains the state of the restrooms and showers.

We have been there 14 years in a row. See you next year

We have stayed here for several years now and the staff has always been friendly and helpful, Beautiful place with awesome views!

Everything was perfect except the non existent wifi connection. I would still come again.

4/5 stars. The only two things I didn't like were A) the showers were always dirty with grass/hair/dirt any time of day and there was no place to set a clean towel/sundry bag/clean clothes (there were 2 hooks, but I had more things than that). The other was the sheer total number of small children in the hot tub. One time there were 12, and two were toddlers with floaties. Full to capacity >:(

We stayed 8 nights with 2 of our grandchildren. We did the 1 1/2 hrs trail ride, chuckwagon dinner, the restaurants, golf cart rental and the bus shuttle to Mt Rushmore. It's a beautiful facility.

Campground without concrete patios very muddy. States with patios looked very nice

We camped in site on hill. Very nice location with trees and all hook-ups at site worked well. Resort had lots of amenities. The WiFi/cell reception was not good - even when we walked down to check-in area. Great location to see Mount Rushmore and Black Hills.

Overall nice stay. Bathroom and shower house not easily accessible to sites that are not full hookup. Have to walk across bridge and around all the full hookup sites. Site was reserved for a 32 ft trailer but back in was not possible if you followed the one way. And not room to park tow vehicle at site.

This place is really nice.

Nice campground. Friendly staff.

The deluxe cabin did not have enough utensils for 8 people, no bowls, and the two white dogs that belong to one of the KOA employees was left outside while they worked and they continuously barked. We told the people where you check in & nothing was done about anything. Very disappointed with KOA.

We don't care for the new rain shower heads in the front bath house, grounds and bath house - restrooms not as clean as in the past.
Aug 11, 2023
Enjoyed the stay and amenities with our family.
Aug 11, 2023
It was OK for the location. Didn't need all the extras. Also, who would put a huge speed-up halfway back to camping sites. Really. You are already going slow due to curves. It topples everything in rv. That will keep me from coming back and recommending it.

We wont be back! The sites are tight, ours was not mowed and dirty upon arrival (several loose trash items) we had to ask twice for our site to be cleaned. The mens room was disgusting and the ladies always seemed to be out of paper. The shower rooms had mold on the walls, ceiling and the grout. They seem far more concerned w extra amenities than cleanliness and customer service.

My experiences at KOA's have not been great...up until this point. We planned a Mt Rushmore trip, and I am 100% happy we chose the KOA to stay. 3 days and 4 nights. We went over Memorial Day weekend. You will get rain and some inclement weather. We packed most of our food, but we did partake in the pancake breakfast. Kid loved it. We rented a UTV for an afternoon for 2hrs. Worth it. You go on the back trails, and if you are adventurous enough, go on the gnarly trails too. You can drive UTV's on the open road here as long as yours is street legal with plates, I believe. This was the perfect base camp for the following activities in the area: Mt Rushmore, Bear Country, Keystone, Hill City, Rapid City, The 1880 Train (the train was ok, good for kids who haven't been on an old steamer.) The camp grounds themselves are great! Pool, shopping, horseback riding, little shops to visit. We made some really great memories here. Thanks, KOA! PS: Keep in mind, this area is 'Merica friendly...In other words, treat people right and you'll be treated right. Do not play games with the locals, the black hills are vast. Just sayin.

This campground is awesome for everyone. We have been coming here for 5 years now at least one time year usually in August. We have 4 kids from age 5 to 15 and they all love it here. It has 2 pools playgrounds volleyball horseback riding utv rentals bike rentals restaurants ice cream shop small store for groceries and camping stuff wine shop and the kids love to play with all the other kids there. We don't have a camper so we stay in the cabins and they work great for the 6 of us. They have multiple bathrooms and shower house throughout the grounds to use and a laundry mat there. We never had any problems staying here and will keep coming back every year. There is a lot of things to do within an hour drive also. I would definitely recommend this place for people with kids of all ages.
