We loved everything about it except the trains that went by day and night all the time. The only time we couldn’t hear them is when we had our AC unit cranked up.

The young man that greeted us at arrival was delightful & helpful. The campground is situated right next to a beautiful river, a busy Hwy 30 , & a train that was not too bothersome. The sites are level & the setting relaxing despite the Hwy & train. Extra long sewer hose necessary.Strangly, it is located at the end of the pad, beneath your RV.We had to dump on our way out.

This is the second time we have stayed at Lava east, and we will definitely be back. One of the nicest KOA campgrounds that we stay at, had a bunch of or kids come up for the weekend and they had a blast. Very clean and kept up campground, only draw back is there is lots of traffic noise and a lot of trains that go by day and night. That won’t stop us from coming back, beautiful valley .

We generally do not stay at KOA campgrounds, and I wish I had not stayed at this one. It was actually insulting to pay a premium price, including two pet fees, to stay in an essentially empty campground. This, coupled with the constant road traffic and freight train noise made the experience all the more unpleasant. We will not be back.

Close to town, great space with plenty of spacing between coach’s, we were parked along shaded area with mature trees shade most spaces. The bathroom were very clean and newly remodeled. We can see where large areas with new concrete pads and landscaped are being added.

Very impressed with spaciousness, quality of facilities, location near river and attractions in town. We walked to the hot springs. A little noisy near highway and railroad but overall a great place to stay!

This was advertised as a pull through site. However, due to the high curbing around the site, it took significant manuevering to get my 39' RV into this site. I would not recommend paying $100/night for a site that isn't easy to get in and out of. False Advertising.

I was very disappointed with the workers and the campsite. The campsite was so unlevel that my front tires were off the ground more than 6 inches!! The ground sewer pipe had been run over so much that we couldn't connect our sewer hose! As far as the workers, they seemed as though I was a bother to them than a customer. I had to ask twice for ice to be delivered. Not customer friendly!

Great campground that is well kept. The only challenge is the trains going up and down the canyon all day and night. Difficult to sleep.

The park is very nice and well maintained.The problem is it is next to a highway where semi trucks run including at night. If that wasn’t bad enough on the other side of the highway is train tracks that run trains at least every 2 hours. We counted one with 151 cars. We saw that the park was 12 miles away from the main highway 15 so assumed it would be quiet. WRONG

Beautiful camp site and well kept. Only thing that sucked was the premium wifi wouldn't work so it was a waist of money. And spot 205 is in a bad spot for there the hook up are other then that I would definitely stay again

Very nice campground. Clean, well maintained, and friendly staff. Walking distance to very charming town of Lava Hot Springs. Stayed two nights in a travel trailer, back-in full hookup, concrete parking pad, mostly level, backed up to the river and waterfall, very nice. Campground is next to a busy road and nearby busy train tracks. Truck and train traffic noise was quickly normalized.

Loved this KOA! The cabins were cute, bathrooms were super clean, and the river right next to the camping sites is perfect for swimming in. We will definitely be back!

Campground facilities and grounds was very well maintained. Our spot however was a little tight for our motorhome had very little sitting area, had we been there longer would have preferred a larger spot, overall had a great time.

The campground is well maintained. The upper area where we stayed had curbs and grass “lawns”. The sites are level (especially 204, it seemed to be the absolute best site). All utilities worked well. Bathrooms were super clean. And we had great service from Verizon. The KOA is just a short walk to town and the hot springs itself.

It was nice and they had lots of shade. Night time had train noise but worked thru it since not much they could do

All the amenities were awesome. The staff are a bit young and when we approached them regarding a very verbally loud fight amongst a bunch of drunk adults (not young) that happened between midnight and 2am the night before, we were just told, “thanks for bringing it to our attention”. We even gave them the site number and even told them that was the reason we did not extend our stay with the

The staff did inform the manager regarding your comment and the guests were contacted and given a final warning. Security was also made aware of the incident and asked to frequently monitor the area.

Beautiful setting next to the river, clean and helpful staff. Only drawback is the noisy road and train right next to the site.

Great camping by the river if you request it, cement pad & fire pit & table & chairs! Loved it. Our son was in a very nice cabin, clean campground. The man & lady in the office definitely could have been friendlier & more accommodating, we did arrive early, but it was not all booked up. Kip working the grounds gets an A+. We’ll definitely go back!

Road noise from the highway is right next to the park, with lots of trucks that use their air brakes through the night. The railroad is just across the highway with frequent trains running through the day and night. If you are at all sensitive to noise, consider another option. Otherwise the facility is clean and well organized.

I was unaware how close this KOA was to the main road and train tracks. The train literally runs ALL NIGHT LONG and shakes the entire trailer. The KOA itself was great but the location is absolutely HORRIBLE. I wouldn't stay here again solely because of the location and lack of sleep I got the two nights there. KOA staff was friendly and helpful.

We stayed in L46 and patio is facing the river. Very nice night bbq and fire pit experience. Close by train tracks and freeway is the downside though. The cabin was very clean and cozy. Kids loved the bunk beds.

The cabins are very cozy, close to the Portneuf river across from the cabins. It runs by some great RV parking spots looking at that river. I gave them 2 stars for service because no one is around Monday to Thursday, along with limited working hours Friday- Sunday. If you want something, you have to get in your vehicle and drive about a mile away to their other office in a different area of town. I find that ridiculous or even worse, asinine, not sure what the owner was thinking of that concept. Everything else was great. Some people might have other opinions about driving away to check out, they should have a drop box located around the office area to drop off the keys where we were staying at, instead of us driving to the other location drop it off, I found that to be very inconvenience for us.
