Local Attractions
Land Between The Lakes Land Between The Lakes is a 170,000-acre national recreation area in western Kentucky and Tennessee offering a wide range of outdoor activities for the family. The Homeplace-1850 is a working 19th century farm. It features historic interpreters dressed in period clothing and an outdoor museum bringing the past to life with special events and festivals that highlight the spirit and times of the 1850's. The Nature Station is a hands-on encounter with the natural world. You can hear a barred owl's call, watch a red wolf or join the interpreters on guided hikes into the forests of LBL. Enjoy the drive-through Elk & Bison Prairie, which is a restoration of the region's original prairie habitat where you can watch bison grazing on native prairie grasses, or hear the bugling of elk.
Fort Campbell U.S. Army Base Fort Campbell is the home of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). The 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles stationed at Fort Campbell are members of the only air assault division in the world. The Fort Campbell area is filled with interesting historical sites dating from the early days of settlement in the late 1700's, through the Civil War era to the present.
Fort Donelson National Battlefield Fort Donelson National Battlefield is located a short distance southeast of the Kentucky Lakes/Prizer Point KOA in Dover, Tennessee. It was the site of a historic Civil War battle on February 14, 1862 that ended in the surrender of Confederate troops to Union General, Ulysses S. Grant.
