Indian Head Golf and Country Club A stunningly beautiful course featuring gently undulating fairways, bordered by more than 30,000 mature pine and spruce, combined with several species of prairie trees and shrubs, which provide a home to a variety of prairie song birds, give the course a natural park-like feel. Walk-ons are welcome. The dress code is casual. Credit cards and Interac are accepted. The pro shop can supply equipment and power cart rentals. Putt and chip practice green and driving range available.
PFRA Shelterbelt Centre A short five minute drive will take you to the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration (PFRA) Shelterbelt Centre, a 640 acre (256 ha) area producing 29 hardy tree and shrub species. Annually the Centre distributes over 5 million trees and shrubs to 10,000 prairie clients. During the severe drought of the 1930's Shelterbelt Centre staff worked with the newly formed PFRA to plant field shelterbelts and demonstrate their use for soil conservation. Over 2,000 km of shelterbelts were planted, many of them still present today. Tours of the nursery for the general public and professional organizations are held periodically to demonstrate the activities of the Shelterbelt, as well as advise rural communities of the benefits of shelterbelts.
