This is a quiet country campground with no trains!

This KOA is just 15 minutes from Carolina Crossroads Music and Entertainment District in Roanoke Rapids-also home to the Roanoke Canal Trail. Rocky Mount offers the Imperial Centre with galleries, a digital planetarium and a children's museum. The Dunn Center for the Performing Arts has a variety of entertainment. Nearby, Scotland Neck hosts the world's largest collection of waterfowl at Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park and Eco-Center, open year-round. Spend a day in Raleigh or at the beach. Tour Historic Halifax and go antiquing. Just 4 miles away is Hickory Meadows, an 18-hole public golf course-no tee times! This is a quiet country campground with no trains. There's even a dog run for pets.

Historic Stonewall

This mansion is an outstanding example of late Federal architecture in North Carolina and was built in 1830. It is open to the public every second Sunday of every month from 2 to 4 p.m. Group tours are available by appointment. 1-800-849-6825. Battle Park

This provides a scenic drive, picnic facilities, scenic overlooks, walks along the Tar River and a marble monument to local Confederates killed in war. The Arts Center and The Playhouse

This is also known as "The Tank" and is one of the best art forums in the state.

The Country Doctor Museum

Located in Bailey, NC, this museum consists of the restored offices of two country doctors who practiced from 1857 to 1887. The medical and apothecary artifacts displayed here remind the visitors of how medical science has progressed. Located in Bailey, NC. 252-235-4165. Sunset Park

Children's Museum & Science Center at the Imperial Centre

Spring Hope Historical Museum

This attraction is dedicated to the premise that a preservation of the past is a true legacy for the generations to come. Exhibits change periodically. Open year-round Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. Free admission.

Nash County Cultural Center

The Nash County Cultural Center features some of Nash County's finest stage performers, musicians and artists.

Roanoke Canal Trail

The Roanoke Canal Trail tells the history of transportation on the Roanoke River from the early 1800's to today. In 1976, the canal, the tow path and the canal structures were added to the National Register of Historic Places. The towpath and bottom of the canal provide pedestrian access between Roanoke Rapids and Weldon.

Historic Halifax

Halifax County's rich history sets it apart. Several Indian tribes settled the area before the immigrants arrived in Halifax County. This history is celebrated each year at the Pow Wow Festival in Hollister North Carolina. The Visitor's Center offers an audiovisual presentation, exhibits, guided tours and displays depicting the history of the town.

September through November - The Fisher family opens their doors to visitors to view pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, wheat straw and fall squash. Children will enjoy seeing various farm animals.

Dan Finch Pottery Open House

2nd Sunday in November - located in Bailey, NC the studio home of potter and instructor Dan Finch hosts approximately 50 Eastern North Carolina potters offering works for exhibit and sale.
