Loved the pool and that there was a kiddie pool! Kids loved having a playground. Very clean, bathrooms were well attended to. It was nice being so close to the river. Very windy, however that is just Ellensburg! Didn't notice traffic noise at all! Had 2 month old baby with us who slept great!

Positive experience as usual.

I would recommend this location as a last resort only. The location next to the freeway made it impossible to sleep. Also, our neighbors were up until 2:30AM and were extremely drunk, noisy and rude. At no time did ANYONE from KOA walk through the 'campground' to make sure people were observing the quiet hours. Unbelievable. People in store were very friendly though. Enforce the quiet hours.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

These guests were here during the weekend of the Watershed concert at the Gorge Amphitheater. People arrived back at the campground very late. We have a private security guard company on the weekends from 9pm to 2am enforcing quiet hours. We are on the corner of I-90 and Thorp Hwy. Road noise here.

Great KOA. Very neat and clean. Cabins were very nice and the deluxe with the bathroom worked out great with us and the two grandkids who slept in the bunk beds. Road noise was minimal in cabins but if your tenting you might prefer to be toward river.

We like to stay here because of the cleanliness, amenities, location on the river, and the friendly, caring staff.

There were no family/community activities, the games room and family room were lame. They opened up bike rentals at random times often with excuses as to why they were not. We love KOA's. We did not love this one.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We have a pool, volley ball, horse shoes, basket ball and lend other sporting equipment. Game room has ping pong and air hockey. Family room has a TV and tables and chairs for our tenters. Bike rentals at 9am Mon-Sat & 11am on Sunday as a safety precaution with many guests departing the park.

very narrow sites, overbooked with too many people per site. A busy city not a quiet campground experience

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Our park was built in the late 1960's before big rigs with slide outs. We have been sold out every weekend this summer. When this happens, we are cramped. Sorry folks. We love you and do the best we can with what we have.

They charged us 10.00 for a child which was 5.00 a night we did not have a child with us and I had my receipt emailed to me so I didn't see this till we were home. I was never refunded the money.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

When the reservation was made for this guest, it was for 2 adults and 1 child over the age of 5. When we check people in, we confirm number of adults and children on the reservation. Not sure what happened here but will call guest and refund them accordingly.

It appeared this would be a great campground for kids but the sites were too close to each other. Just too crowded, but I guess that means business is good. The sites by the river should really be protected with a fence to keep children safe.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

When our guests with children book river sites, we caution them about the river and ask if they are comfortable with that situation for their family. Sometimes, they relocate to other sites further away.

couple of tent site located right next to trash bins and couple of tent site squeezed into kids play area ...some things to reconsider.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Tent sites on the front lawn are spacious and deeper than those on the river. There are four 33 gallon trash barrels inside a 3 sided redwood fenced area for those guests to use. We try to make trash disposal convenient for our guests.

The staff is super friendly, and the grounds are kept very clean- but we were very disappointed by the amount of college aged campers on the tent sites near us that were constantly drunk to all hours of the night, and smoking pot all day long. Our family was not able to be at our tents at all. Sleep was hard to come by. This KOA sits right on the freeway. So, tent sleeping is super difficult.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Guests were here the weekend of the Watershed Concert at the Gorge Amphitheater. July/August also very busy with people tubing/floating the Yakima River. We have a security guard on duty from 9-2am Fri/Sat. nights. Was not made aware of the pot smoking. Marijuana is now legal in Washington State.

Pleasantly surprised about the attractiveness of the campground and the location. Parked in a 50A W&S site very close to the river, with nice shade trees. I would definitely stay here again.
Aug 07, 2016
The sites are a little close but the river made up for that. There is considerable road noise. I managed to pick the one cold shower in the block. The managers/owners were very pleasant. The front desk person talked us out of a second night with her reluctance. The park was clean, well maintained with many extras. Two playgrounds, horseshoes, store and pool. Also laundry albeit pricey,

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We were sold out this weekend with lots of tent campers attending a local concert at the Gorge Amphitheater. Bathrooms were super busy. Sorry for the cold shower. Unfortunate timing for this guest. Laundry Rates: $2.00 to Wash/$1.50 to dry for 45 minutes.

Nice location for an overnight stay. Close to town. Water pressure not strong, but did have showers. Love the river site even though it was not a pull thru but a pull in back in. Electrical hookups awkward to use. Staff very friendly.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Most sites in our park share a service pedestal with their neighbor.

Great location. They are continually upgrading the facility; drip watering flowers etc.
Aug 06, 2016
have stayed several times anad have always been satisfied
Aug 06, 2016
No sewer hook up but stayed extra night because the facility and location is so nice.
Aug 06, 2016
Great campground one we will stay at many more times!
Aug 05, 2016
We enjoyed our stay here. The staff was friendly, the campground was clean
Aug 05, 2016
My Homebase KOA... A great staff already complements a great campground!
Aug 05, 2016
No social activities, No Beer stocked seemed like a moral decision applied to everyone. Staff seemed distant.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We are an overnight park, not a Holiday or Resort KOA. There are a lot of activities in town and in the surrounding area. We have Visitor Guides and Maps available to guests for activities in our local area. Our camp store does not sell alcoholic beverages. Safeway and Fred Meyer are close in town.

We love staying here because it's small and easy with kids. Cabins are awesome and pool w/mini pool is big hit. Does get wind and freeway noise
Aug 04, 2016
Great location, clean and friendly
Aug 04, 2016
Difficult small park to maneuver a big right in. Staff very courteous and grounds well attended.
Aug 04, 2016
We often stay at the Ellensburg KOA when traveling. It's the perfect location for the last leg of our trip home. The location next to the river is lovely, the facilities are great and it's only about 3 hours to home.
Aug 03, 2016
Friendly staff. Questionable guests.
Aug 03, 2016
Great place for a stopover on our journey. Facilities were clean, spots by the river were beautiful and not too tight together. Will definitely stay again in our next adventure.

I loved the convenience and the space I had.

This is the worst-run campground in the USA. They wouldnt honor our reservation for a 50-amp site even when we showed them written confirmation. The 30-amp site they gave us had low voltage. I asked to be moved to an open 50-amp site, and the manager refused as it was reserved. I asked What about our reservation? She said Youre already mad, I wont make someone else mad just to satisfy you.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

These folks made their own internet reservation. They requested a 30 amp head in site. They were a 41 foot motor home towing a jeep. They needed a 50 amp site . . not a 30 amp site. We were sold out and there was no other sites available. We gave them a full refund and referred them to another park.
Aug 02, 2016
Close to freeway so a little more noisy but it was clean and sites were well designed for all types of rigs. A lot of area for tents as well. Close to town so great place to stay if you are going to the many events that go on throughout the year in Ellensburg. Will be staying here again in the future.

Except for the pitch I got all over my shoes in spot 10, it was a wonderful stay!!!
Aug 02, 2016
Stay was as promised. We have been there several times and have gone back because of the positive experience.
Aug 02, 2016
All was good with the exception of some dead branches that fell a weeping willow tree we were under.
Aug 02, 2016
We had a great site, not to crowded. As tipical for koa clean rest rooms and shower facilities. Pricey compared to national campgrounds using your senior pass.
Aug 01, 2016
VERY SMALL sites and rude staff that does not honor requests. I scheduled 4 months in advance and they messed up our reservation. They have you pull straight in and your neighbor back in so you are right next to each other. We could hear all their conversations. Then you have to share your small outside space with your other neighbor. Keep driving....there are better places to stay.
Aug 01, 2016
Kind of torn about our experience. On one hand, the bathrooms were VERY clean. But the rules (no fires) were not enforced. We were made aware of the highway noise and that was not a problem but our neighbors partying until 2am w/ a prohibited fired was pretty annoying. Also rather expensive. We would stay again but will look for other options first.
Aug 01, 2016
The facilities were great however we happened to get stuck next to a large loud group that drank and talked until 3 Am and did not honor the burn ban in place.
Aug 01, 2016
Really clean place to stay

Clean facilities and great atmosphere!
Aug 01, 2016
The grounds are kept very clean. The only thing was the campers were very noisy and at very late hours. There was a guard walking around but didn't seem to be controlling the noise.
Aug 01, 2016
Very nicely kept and managed place. I will stay here again.

Aug 01, 2016
All we needed was a place to sleep. We didn't even walk around the grounds.
Aug 01, 2016
Great staff and facilities.

we always enjoy staying here, such a peaceful setting by the Yakima River
