There are numerous State Game Lands in the Northeast Pennsylvania area.
State Game Land 38 is a popular destination for hunting white-tailed deer, black bear, wild turkey, grouse, snowshoe hare, and timber rattlesnakes. Furtaking opportunities include beaver, raccoon, gray fox, coyote, and mink. Waterfowl hunting opportunities exist on wetlands throughout the gamelands.
State Game Land 180 is located entirely within Wildlife Management Unit 3D. The most popular species for recreational hunting opportunities are white-tailed deer, eastern cottontail, waterfowl, wild turkey, American woodcock, black bear, eastern coyote, ruffed grouse and squirrel. Furbearer hunting and trapping opportunities include raccoon, grey fox, bobcat, beaver and eastern coyote. There is also a limited population of snowshoe hare.
Lost River Caverns is a natural limestone cavern. It was discovered in 1883 by a limestone quarry operation which was digging where the parking lot now stands. The operation accidentally created the entrance to the cave. Since that is the only entrance to the caverns, there aren't any bats, rats or snakes or any Native Americans, dinosaurs or cavemen in the cave. In 1930, the caverns were opened to the public & at that time walkways, handrails & lighting were added. Other than that, Lost River Caverns is a completely natural cave. According to geologists, Lost River Caverns started forming within the past 250,000 years. It was formed by the work of the water table dissolving away the limestone to form the chambers & passageways. The water table has since dropped, allowing seepage from rainfall & melting snow to remove minerals from the rock above the caverns, deposit them on the rock surface & building up to varying formations.

Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm, is a non-profit, living history museum preserving 19th century Pennsylvania German agricultural heritage. Nestled on 114 acres of beautiful pastures, woodlands and streams, Quiet Valley hosts typical farm animals found in the 1800s. Rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, cows, pigs, goats, sheep, a mule and Clydesdale draft horses live on the homestead. The buildings include an 1850s bank barn, the original farmhouse, a cabin, spring house, ice house, smokehouse, dry house and assorted smaller barns. Quiet Valley is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Travel back in time and experience the sights, sounds and feel of life on a traditional 1800s farm. Guides in period clothing portray the lives of the original settlers and demonstrate some of the skills needed to survive.
