Very nice stay. Site 11 was at the top of the hill, secluded and very peaceful. Bought 2 sites because a friend was meeting us there, so the proprietor let us set both tents up in the one site. Vey nice people, very clean campground.

Enjoyed the site and the campgrounds. The owners were wonderful. Would definitely return. Would have gave a five but with the digital age I wish the wi-fi was better.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We wish the wifi was better too! :) Unfortunately, our internet service provider options are extremely limited, so what we have is the best we can get for now. I am continually searching for better options.

I pre-paid for a 3 night tent site. Every morning I was woken at 5-6 AM by construction noise from the gravel pit operation next door and a seasonal paving project. The weekends or the RV side might be better. If someone had warned me, I would have gone someplace else. I voiced my complaint when I checked out, all I got when I mentioned a refund, was a snicker and a sarcastic âhave a nice dayâ

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

If you came to me after the first night and gave me a chance to address the problem, I would have gladly considered a refund if I was not able to resolve to your satisfaction. I spoke with the county road crew foreman within the hour after you complained and they stopped running that equipment so early. Problem solved. I apologized sincerely to you multiple times.

The campground is currently under new ownership and all of the previous complaints by past guests are being dealt with. Our stay was very enjoyable and the owner / operators were very friendly and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you! We do pay attention to our camper feedback and are absolutely investing in resolution wherever possible.

Been to the Cripple Creek KOA several times now. Great location at high elevation. Weather stays cool up there. Very clean campground - bathrooms, showers, etc. We'll definitely be back.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Excellent! You are welcome any time.

Very friendly staff. Lots of amenities. Have stayed before and would return!

Very good place to stay, wonderful nature, good location.

Beautiful place! Safe and Clean! Lovely people who run the place. Friendly staff that is very helpful. I would go back :) my girls had a greattime and made friends with the owners daughter it was so cute! Will always remember our trip!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

I think it was her best two days since we moved up here. :)
Sep 05, 2017
Everything was great but we were disappointed that no one enforced dogs being on a leash.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Our apologies. We did our best on one of the busiest weekends of the year.

Clean and nice overpriced compared to State Parks

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We are competitively priced among KOAs statewide and nationwide, and provide more amenities than state parks. We are also not government subsidized as they are. We think Mueller park up the road is beautiful camping though. Feel free to stop by to dump your tanks after you check out as they have no sewer hookups.
Sep 04, 2017
The people who work at this KOA are very pleasant!! The people who stay at this KOA are NOT! Also the tent sites are EXTREMELY close together which was not preferred.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

I'm glad you felt we were hospitable... we try! I think most campers are fun and considerate, but unfortunately some campers don't show enough consideration for those around them.

We have stayed at this KOA several times in the past. Very clean and well kept. The owners are friendly and helpful. The big issue for us this time was the lack of any cell phone service and very limited internet. Our ATT WiFi Hot-spot device wouldn't work at all and the KOA Internet wasn't dependable. We are so dependent on good communications that we will be hesitant to stay there again.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Sorry, but we cannot take responsibility for AT&T not having cell service in our remote location. Our internet service is the best available up here and has not changed for years, so not sure why that took you by surprise this visit. I am glad you enjoyed our other amenities. We work hard to make your outdoor camping experience exceptional!

Love this KOA. Quiet, clean, beautiful! Very well run and friendly
Sep 02, 2017
Great owners! Make u feel at home. Close to a lot of Rocky mountain fun.
Sep 02, 2017
The friendliest hosts! The grounds were very well kept and location was perfect.

If you want to camp on the side of a steep grade, in a too-narrow site, have your picnic table at an angle where your can of soda will slide off the table, and where you will fall out your front door if you don't hang-on... then THIS is the campground for you. If Cripple Creek wants to claim fame as being the "worlds highest campground" they could at least provide more accommodating sites.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We have a FEW sites that have significantly sloped yards, however you were in site 147 which is not one of them. As a new owner this year, leveling out the sloped sites is one of the top items on my to-do list. Unfortunate that you neglected to look up from your site long enough to take in the breathtaking beauty or friendly folks around you.

Beaitiful place. Friendly syaff. Bathrooms and showers very clean.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We're glad you enjoyed Colorado's mountain beauty!

Sites too narrow and not long enough for our 40' Class A plus toad. Because of slope away from gravel pad, unsafe at motorcoach steps. No cable. Terrible WiFi (good signal strength, but no bandwidth). No AT&T cell coverage. One channel OTA TV. Left after 2 nights of a planned 4 night stay.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Some of our sites are too sloped and I am working on addressing that. Also have plans to add some new sites that are better suited for big rigs. Per your other complaints... well, we are a remote campground in the beautiful, pristine mountains of central Colorado. We offer camping and outdoor activities and don't have an interest in ruining our outdoor experience with city hotel amenities.

My wife died while staying here. They told me I could stay as long as I needed to take care of things even though they had a fully booked Veterans group coming in that weekend. They would move their personal trailer if needed so I could stay. This was also the week of the "eclipse" so it would have been almost impossible to find another site close by. They fed me and kept asking me if I was OK.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Wish we could have done more to help.
Sep 01, 2017
Was 7 miles from town, no cell service, and limited internet.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Can't argue with that... except that we're 5 miles from town, and Verizon cell service is 4G with strong signal. It's beautiful up here, isn't it?
Aug 31, 2017
Campground was very busy while we were there so there were few empty FHU spaces. Our space sloped right out the camper door making entry and exit a tall step. Parking was tight for us. Other than this I cannot find anything to complain about here. Everything worked as advertised, even the Wi-Wi worked fairly well for such a busy place. Sketchy AT&T signal, limited TV.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for the review! Working on addressing the sloping sites and adding some new big-rig friendly sites. Not much we can do about internet service and AT&T cell service up here, but continue to look for opportunities to improve.

The campground was very clean and well organized. All RV sites were pull through - - a nice feature. The price per night was right, although I was a little put out when told I would need to pay an extra $10 fee for "Early Check-In"; we checked in at 12:55 PM and hadn't been told about this fee. The camp needs a 2nd set of bathrooms; i.e. none available from 11:00 AM to @ 2:00 PM for cleaning.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for taking the time to review! Our 3pm check-in time is stated on every page of our website, repeated inline on the General Info tab where there is also statement of a fee for early check-in, and is also stated in the email reservation confirmation you received. Early check-in disrupts the morning cleanup routine, thus the charge. Bathrooms close no earlier than noon, usually for 1 hr

We've stayed at a lot of KOA's and this one was our favorite. Very clean facilities and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful area in the mountains. Will definitely come back to this location in the future!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We'll work hard to keep it your favorite, although I suspect the views are the most important part.
Aug 29, 2017
We really like your campground and will definitely be staying again soon.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Looking forward to it!
Aug 28, 2017
Very beautiful, quiet, staff was friendly. Felt like home.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Excellent!
Aug 28, 2017
There was nothing wrong with the park. The owners when out of there way to help me stay one more night at the last minute,it's just a long way to the park and the altitude killed me.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Sorry to hear the altitude was a problem. Unfortunately, some people are seriously affected.

Very clean campground. very nice reception office. The Log cabin really adds to the Colorado atmosphere when checking in. Liked the small store area and gift shop.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Glad you enjoyed it!
Aug 27, 2017
Unfortunately it rained off and on so we didn't do as many outdoor activities that we would have liked. On the plus side, the office had plenty of movies to keep our grandson busy. It is a very well kept KOA and the office personal are very nice.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Glad you had an enjoyable stay in spite of the weather. We never know what mother nature will bring us... sun to hail to rain to sun is a typical day!

Aug 26, 2017
Only one shower facilities on site.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We've seen that our facilities meet the demand of our typical reservations. We do have plans to expand, and are considering additional bathroom facilities in that context. Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback!
Aug 25, 2017
the campground is great for those who have trailers,i was tent site t-7 if i remember, too many sharp rocks to drive into along with small trees that have been cut at sharp angles, tire getter, fire pit worn out, picnic tble half rotten, tent site not flat, greatplace if i had a trailer

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks for the candid feedback! Primitive tent site leveling is on the top of my maintenance list. I'll see what I can do about the rocky roads as well.
Aug 24, 2017
The best campground we have stayed at hands down. The only recommendation I have is upgrade the Wifi because cellphone coverage is very limited.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for the kind words! I am continually seeking better internet service, but don't have options at this time due to our remote location.
Aug 24, 2017
Nice setting. Only thing that was inconvenient was the time the showers and bathrooms were closed for cleaning. They only had one bathhouse

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We do our best to minimize the time our bathrooms are closed, but current demand doesn't necessitate additional facilities. We are considering adding bathrooms as we expand though. Thanks for the review!
Aug 24, 2017
Everyone there was very friendly and helpful look forward to our next visit! Such a beautiful area.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Glad you appreciate our views too!
Aug 24, 2017
This is our GO TO KOA!! Facility is ALWAYS clean, well stocked, accommodating. Camp kitchen is awesome: cast iron pans, CLOTH towels/wash rags, dish soap, cleaning/scrubbing sponges, drying rack, & electric STOVE!!! Fun things for kids (peddle cars, playground, etc.). PRISTINE & very quiet location!! Owners Deric and Terri are amazing. You won't regret a stay at this KOA.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you!

I am disabled and had to change sites but was completely accommodated I will return.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Looking forward to it!

I was put in a spot that when set up my entry was so steep we had a very hard time getting in and out of our unit. The utility connections did not allow us much leeway to position ourselves to get near to the waste receptacle. Even though I booked this stay several months in advance and asked for a 50 amp hookup I was put in a 30 amp and told It was basically my tough luck and could not be moved.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

On Dec 10, 2016 you booked a 30 amp site yourself (online) for Veteran's Rally weekend and were sent an email confirmation clearly highlighting that fact. The mistake was yours alone. Under these circumstances, we gladly accommodate site changes but when you showed up on the single busiest weekend of the year expecting a change, we simply did not have any options for you.
Aug 22, 2017
This was my 1st stay in one of the cabins and I must say it was a great experience, very clean and enjoyable time. The staff and owners are 1st classs in my book

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you!

Nice! :)
Aug 22, 2017
Enjoyed the experience. Great Hosts.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for coming to visit!
Aug 22, 2017
It served our purpose. We're actually more used to camping in National Forest campgrounds, so a KOA felt a bit crowded. Facilities were great. Showers and bath were spotless. Staff was polite and friendly.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

The campground was built before today's big rigs, so some of the sites are kind of tight. We do have plans to add some new sites very soon, so hope you check back in a year or two. :) Thanks for taking the time to review!
Aug 22, 2017
BEAUTIFUL VIEWS... VERY NICE CAMP SITES... NEW TO THE RV WORLD HOWEVER EVERYTHING WAS VERY CLEAN,,,MAINTAINED .. DEFINITELY WILL RETURN! :)

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thanks! WE'll be waiting for your return. :)
