Everything was fine at this KOA and I'll likely return, but I don't understand the internet use policy of 1 hr per 24 hrs. I used less than 1 hr on two days and was still charged w/ full hr use. No other KOAs I've stayed in have this policy.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

All get 1 free full hour/24 hours. You couldn't have paid for full hour use. We only charge for full 24 hour access. Most KOA's have fiber, cable, DSL, T-1, microwave, wireless or cell available. None of that is available here. Just expensive commercial satellite. Sorry. It bothers us too.

Would like to have increased access to Wi-Fi.

We stayed along the river in a premium site with concrete patio. The site was very spacious but not very secluded. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again!

My first stay at a KOA. Friendly staff, and about everything you need in the store. Good access to the river, but the fish are kinda stubborn. Enjoyable stay. I hope to come back.

Pool was closed. Free WIFI was limited to one hour.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Our pool is open Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend. Wi-Fi is free for one hour, with 24 hours available for a fee.

The people were very friendly. I would have like to seen the fire pit in a different location not next to the camper, site 70. Will be back next year.

Too close to Hwy 24, but a nice area

Jim, Amy and Thunder are excellent hosts. We've been camping at Cotopaxi KOA and enjoy it more and more with each visit. They've become wonderful friends. We haven't found any other KOA as great as this one.

Not up to KOA standards. They have a "Speed Bump" on their access road that is much to high. After having my dishes rearranged I got on the CB and let the other 3 couples traveling with us know about the size of the "bump". The second person in line had their freezer door fly open and stuff hit the floor. The third person blocked the entrance such that the 4th RV was still on the highway.

You need to get reid of the speed bump as you enter the park. We came into the park with 4 big rigs. The speed bump is at an angle to the drive where one tire on hits it then the other side tire hits it. This causes the RV cabinet doors to open in some cases and items fall out. The most serious thing was with each of us trying to go slow over speed bump the last rig was left with tow in the road.

Overall very good. Getting a vehical with trailer in and out is difficult.

I stayed there mid august and liked it so much that I came back a the end of aug and stayed in a cabin. I will be back!!! Thanks so much

The cost was too high for a holiday weekend. The cost should stay the same all year long. The parking was terrible due to camp parking. If you wanted to pull out a camper, you whould have to ask people to move their vehicle. The tent sites were on top of each other so our friends had to leave early due to noise and spot lights being left on all night. The trees were over grown near the dump.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Labor Day Weekend was 100% booked and we have to agree with some of what you say. We encourage you to try us on a non-holiday weekend. Thanks for the input.

only 2 things I would change at this campground is: Level the trailer pads. Add Steps down to the river in two locations to avoid injuries.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We agree and hope to take steps to address these concerns. Thanks for the feedback.

Nice staff, but the grounds need work. Fire pits were in terrible disrepair, trash barrels over flowing and not-so-clean bathrooms. Probably will not return to this one.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We are constantly working on the grounds but agree with your comments. We encourage you to try us again when we are non 100% full on a holiday weekend. You get better site selection, etc. Thanks for the feedback.

We loved being right next to the river and in the mountains! The grounds were clean and everyone was very friendly.
Aug 29, 2013
we liked all the activities available for our 2 grandchildren in the park. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Being next to the river was a big pulse. being next to US 50 was not as bad as it could be since the traffic was light and very little at night. WE will return.

Our site was right on the Arkansas river with a great view of the rocky mountain canyon. Lots of family activities with a busy helpful and friendly staff

Lots of open tenting spots, now that the kids are back in school. Too bad it was cloudy, I heard the stars are beautiful in the canyon, but listening to the Arkansas River was delightful.

The gnats were horrible - could they have been sprayed. Bathrooms were very clean. The grounds were not nearly as nice as we would expect from a KOA - especially considering the price.
Aug 20, 2013
Staff was friendly and helpful. Bathrooms and Store were clean. Would like to see a light added to dog run area, very dark. Prizes at events need to be more age appropriate for teens.

Great location and staff.
Aug 19, 2013
The stay was good - staff was eager to assist. We were there for a group outing and because the group area was far away from our sites they let us use another site for meeting area.

Activities were well recieved. Weekend was enjoyable. Bugs NOT so much.

Very nice campground. People are very friendly and the facilities are very clean. This is our second time there this summer and will definitely go back!
Aug 19, 2013
I enjoyed all the activities they had to offer. This trip we did tie-die shirts. Family participation is encouraged. We also took a western family photo in front of the wagon. Always love the hay ride and ice cream social. The campground is well-kept, restrooms are clean, and most sites are shaded. They have a nice dog run for the dogs to play and do their business.

Arrived very late without a reservation because we were told there were lots of open spaces and there were. The internet tent price says $35, their sign says, "Tent $25" and our bill was over $40. In the middle of the night without any additional price info at their self check in stand we choose a site that looked like all the others, but in the morning were informed we choose the most expensive.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Guest came to us based on family rate web site quote of $35.00 for 2 adults and 2 children, but only paid $31.30 for her site, even after choosing a nicer site! Guest had extra people, etc. and taxes which pushed the rate to $40.77.

We had a great time. Staff was very friendly. Lots of gnats in the day but better at night.
Aug 12, 2013
this place is something else rivers, mountains just awsome. The staff are very nice people and helpful with directions and information, thank you for a great stay, see you next year.
Aug 12, 2013
It's a drag staying places where they're too cheap to buy enough internet bandwidth. Fast internet it critical to most people these days. Some redemption in that Jim listened to my complaint and got mine working, albeit slowly. Great dog park.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

There is no cable, DSL, fiber optic, microwave, wireless, or cell service available for miles and our guests could not afford to bring it in. Just dial-up and satellite. We pay a premium for the best available commercial satellite. We are not cheap.

Of course the location of this KOA right on the Arkansas river automatically makes it amazing but the staff was very friendly as well. Had a wonderful stay!
