Quiet, clean restrooms, and close to many historic sites. Great place to relax and enjoy VA. Didn't rate it great because we had no cell phone signal.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Sorry, we have no control over where cell phone companies have signal.

Close to Monticello, etc. But sites too close, not level. Not the best for a KOA

Staff was great. Glad you had good cable TV service. Great signage to locate facility.

we had a wonderful time it was so quite and relaxing enjoyed being at the campground thanks so much

Friendly staff. Nice bathrooms and campsites. Campers sure do get up early there. I think there must have been a football game that weekend.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

There was in fact a 12:00 p.m. football game that weekend so I'm sure most people left the campground by 8 a.m.

Location is good for Thomas Jefferson home. KOA well market signs. Staff friendly and helpful. Older KOA needs updates. Tree roots, dirt exposed around sites. Muddy issue if it rans. Dead trees need dropped widow makers. Our 50amp went out during night spouse on C-pack woke up had to go out and reconnect to 30amp at 3am. Pool was refreshing sign stated 40 yrs old excuse remodel next seasons.

This was the first time we had camped at a KOA, and I was very impressed. The sites were wooded, and pretty level. The bathrooms were very clean. Our family(2 adults, 2 children under 7) had a blast!

Very very friendly and helpful hosts. Beautiful scenery. Sites were well situated. NOTE: use the directions provided on the website, not your GPS. We found the road in very well marked.

very difficult to get to off the highway with a big rig

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Please use the directions we have posted online, in the KOA directory, or the Good Sam RV Travel Guide to reach our campground. There are multiple ways to reach our campground but only 1 we recommend for big rigs.

Small, but nice campground. The staff friendly and helpful. No Verizon cell connectivity (not KOA's fault). When approaching from Scottsville on Highway 20, there is no KOA sign which made it easy to miss the turn and have to drive 8 miles to turn around. Dumpster totally full for days, swarming with flies. Campers let their large dogs roam free and were not dealt with by the staff.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

If you drive past 708, going north on 20, there are multiple places to turn around (2 less than a mile from 708). The dumpster was full-ish from Labor day weekend. The morning after you arrived, a neighbor's dog got loose and came to the campground. The owner picked her up at 9:30am after I called.

Great campground... very helpful, pleasent staff.
Sep 05, 2014
The staff was wonderful! We liked that the campground was a bit off the beaten path, but only a few miles to Monticello. No Interstate noise. A wonderful stay
Sep 04, 2014
The campground is beautiful and the staff was more than helpful. I have already recommended it to several campers. We will stop there again.

Sites are very small and girl at front desk was very rude to my father. He wanted to tent camp in the site next to us, that was only big enough for a tent, but it's intentions were to be rented as a camper site so she wouldn't let him camp there...and told him they had no tent sites available. That site and two other "camper" sites stayed empty all 3 days of the holiday weekend. What a bunch of bs

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We do not allow tents on RV sites. We do not allow more than six people per site. We also don't appreciate people having unregistered guests & vehicles without notifying the office especially on holiday weekends when we are booked. Sites remain open when people don't show up or cancel last minute.

Very Peaceful. Campground very clean, Owners pleasant and willing to help if needed. Great site.

It was great really enjoyed the weekend thanks so much

great campground.
Sep 02, 2014
Visited over Labor Day weekend. Even though the campground was full, it was very quiet. We arrived after dark and the staff assisted us with backing in our rig. This is the second time we have stayed here and we will likely do so again.

Wonderful location, quiet, clean, and restful. Friendly staff and nice amenities. We will definitely return to this KOA.

Awesome place. Enjoyed our time there. Felt very safe for my son riding his bike. Fish pond had some nice bass in it. Pond reminded me of back home ponds where you have to find the good spots. My site was great. Backed in on the first try with the help from the staff. I look forward to coming back very soon.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We're so happy you enjoyed our quaint little campground!

Pros: Very nice staff, clean campsite Cons: No Cell Coverage (Verizon), WiFi bandwidth very low Overall: nice place to stay, cannot telecommute from here

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Unfortunately, we have no control over cell phone coverage. As far as WiFi goes, the more people using the WiFi, the slower it goes, especially on holiday weekends when the campground is full. Our WiFi is meant for browsing the internet & checking email, not telecommuting on Labor day weekend.

Park is well managed. Had problems with the TV cable and they jumped right on it to fix it. Had some fluctuating power problems but worked through it. Park is clean and nice in a remote wooded area. Not a lot of big rig sites.
Aug 28, 2014
Not having cell phone service was a disappointing, but at least the internet was consistent. We had a buddy site with our friends and it was great. We really enjoyed our stay.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

I am sorry, but we have no control over cell phone service. It is dependent on where the cell phone companies put their cell phone towers. Sprint and AT&T seem to work consistently at our location.

Staff very friendly and helpful; beautiful wooded site, bathrooms/showers very clean!
Aug 24, 2014
The price for this campground is high for the value. Bathrooms were clean but grounds were more like a poorly maintained state park campground. Nature path was hazardous and had a lot of poison ivy. Swimming pool area was poorly maintained. We chose this campground because it had the KOA name, and this is the second time we've used KOA, and the second time we have been disappointed!

Showers were small and dark. I would recommend this place only for an overnight stay. Dog park needs a lot more to it. It appears the an oops I forgot to put one in.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Our off leash dog area was built this year. We have chosen not to put the fake dog furniture/exercise equipment in because we have heard they are just expensive aesthetics for dogs to pee on or mark their territory, and rarely get used.
Aug 22, 2014
Beautiful setting with plenty of trees and spacious spots.
Aug 21, 2014
This is a beautiful park in an attractive setting. It's great how the sites are carved into the landscape (and are level!), without detracting from it. We just stayed overnight in a pull-through on our way to New England and did not have to unhook our towed (yay!). We will definitely be back when we have more time to explore the area

Pleasant very well groomed park. Friendly staff. Park layout maximizes available space while still providing a good degree of privacy. The terraced positioning of sites with hedge like small new growth trees separating was inspired.
