Campground Reviews

Aug 12, 2013
We went to the KOA to go to local wineries and it is very well located for that. I feel they could do a better job with weed eating (especially around pool area) to give the place a more manicured look. Bathrooms were very clean.

long way of the highway

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We are a little over 9 miles from the highway. It is always best to know directions and distance to your final destination before you start any journey.

Just passing through the area, stopped and met the very friendly staff. Clean. Did not use the pool, but it looked nice from the road. Will stay here again.

The staff was friendly and the campground very quiet. Convenient to the major historical sites.

It is a very quiet KOA and a great location. We were able to visit new places and our boys had a great trip. The facility is clean. The pool is scheduled to be redone and the nature trail and pond could be cleaned up a little but that won't keep us from going again. Definitely use the web directions to get there. Looking forward to a fall visit.

The pool was less than stellar. Most everything else was real nice. The shower/ bathroom was clean and well maintained. The staff was extremely helpful.

Take the approach to the camp from Hiway 20 not 29 much better way to get in. Older camp ground and needs some updating .

Camping Site 34 has an underground watter leak which made movement around the site difficult but manageable. I would also recommend trimming the trees and weeds from the pool areas.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

The leak began during your stay and was fixed the day of your departure. It could not be fixed while you were in the site.

Nice Kamp, and very helpful obtaining the Presidential Homes and historical tavern, which we enjoyed all! Only problem was the wife bought some historic clothing but even though it was not cheap, the sales parson was very enjoyable at Mitchie Tavern, but that was NOT fault of KOA!

Lovely setting. Managers courteous and helpful. Garbage too close to sights and quite fou.
Aug 03, 2013
The staff is friendly. Because it is located deep in the trees, we were not able to get satellite. There wasnt very good cell phone reception. Our space was big and level. We did not feel crowded. Would not recommend for overnighters since it is located about 10 miles off the main road. However, we stayed here three nights and it was convenient for the touring we did in the area.

The bathroom and showers were nice and clean.

The cabins were not as wooded as I would have liked. Our front porch looked out on the dumpster and a parking lot. The nature trail was in terrible shape and also the pool (although there was a sign saying that the pool will be renovated soon.)

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

It is not possible to see the dumpster from any of our cabins. We also don't have any parking lots on our campground.

As always we enjoyed our stay, my only negative comment would be thata you need to take care of the over grown weeds at the pool. Everything else was great.!!!

Nice and quiet.

A serious problem exists within a few feet of the RV on the site we occupied. A "bed" of Poison Ivy needs to be killed and removed.
Jul 29, 2013
The campground was well kept, restrooms and showers very clean; nice wooded sites of good size to accommodate our RV.

This was our 6th or 7th year staying at Charlottesville KOA and plan on going back next year. Our group of firefighters always have great time and are well taken care of by the owners.
Jul 29, 2013
Very clean, secluded campground!
Jul 29, 2013
Site was to small for our camper, our awning was on the edge of the road, no grass. I expected a lot better for the price.

Couldn't say enough good things. Cabin was perfect, everything was very clean, staff was super friendly and we really enjoyed our stay. It was our first time at a KOA and we will definitely be back. Many thanks!
Jul 29, 2013
very nice, clean, helpful staff, sites were very well maintained, we would come stay again!!
Jul 29, 2013
The owners of this camp-ground are superb! We loved our stay and would recommend going there. Our only complaint, our bed was as hard as ply-wood. Ouch. We stayed in the new cabin, k1, and all beds were comfy except for the adult queen. Please put a ticker mattress on it. Otherwise, lovely!

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

The mattresses are only hard because they are so new and stiff, once they are "broken in" they aren't hard.

very clean restrooms. Very quiet, rural environment. Nice staff.
Jul 27, 2013
We liked the campground and bathroom facilities. Camp sites are a bit close together. The pool was very dirty with tree debris, despite the age of the pool, it should have been much cleaner with a simple net sweeping each day. It did not appear as if anyone cleaned it for 2 or 3 days.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

The pool is skimmed twice a day but when it's windy or raining, debris can collect pretty quickly. Especially since we have a lot of trees.
Jul 26, 2013
Campground was nice and wooded, rest rooms very clean, staff was accommodating and helpful with things to do in the area. Definitely will stay here again.
