Open All Year

Located between Atlanta and Chattanooga, the Calhoun KOA makes a great overnight stop or plan to stay with us a few days and have a great time.

Our beautiful KOA is located less than two miles from I-75, in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains. We have pony rides and horseback trail rides through the scenic backwoods. WOW! New this year is our gem mining sluice! It is awesome and right up front to enjoy some mining fun. These complement the existing amenities that have become very popular with our guests, such as the petting zoo, pet play park, catch and release fishing pond, mini golf, hayrides, bike rentals, swimming pool, or a great game room. Pizza, two kinds of wings, mozzarella sticks and mushrooms cooked and delivered to your site for a no hassle supper and a hot cappuccino from our coffee shop will get you moving in the morning.

We have recently added a western style banquet room to hold all your party needs from birthdays, reunions, retirement, weddings, and holidays. The room has a full kitchen, 2 restrooms, one is ADA compliant, a 9-foot electric movie screen for movies, karaoke, slide shows and Wii games, satellite TV and an outdoor patio. Call us about booking a date for your next special event.

Don't have an RV to stay in? That's okay, our new upgraded deluxe kabins are equipped with cable TV and a fridge. Or for all the comforts, try our lodges complete with stove, microwave, bathroom, cable TV and a fridge. Just unwind, relax, build a fire and have some s'mores.

New Echota Cherokee National Historic Site New Echota Historic Site, Cherokee National Capital, is a piece of Georgia’s past and a part of United States history we should never forget. Come and see the beautifully reconstructed capital of the Cherokee Indian Nation, actually in its original location. New Echota is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and has been designated a National Landmark by the National Park Service. Explore the museum showing how the Cherokee people tried to integrate into our society, as well as try to run a government other than "tribal law". The Treaty of New Echota in 1835 sealed the fate of the Cherokees, for this is where the "Trail of Tears" began, when the Cherokee People were removed to eastern Oklahoma in 1838. The result was the death of about 4,000 Cherokees.

Barnsley Gardens Barnsley Gardens is 30 acres of English style gardens surrounding the ruins of the once grand manor house built by Englishman Godfrey Barnsley in the 1840’s. The Gardens include water and bog gardens, a fernery, rockeries, the woodland garden with native and exotic rhododendrons, an orchard with heirloom varieties of fruit trees, a small boxwood garden with a 12 foot fountain in the center. A long flower border, behind the ruins displays perennials and annuals that bloom all summer and into the fall. A redwood arbor provides the ideal spot to grow climbing roses.

The former kitchen wing of the manor house, which dates back to 1842, is now a small museum with exhibits about the Barnsley family and the restoration of the gardens.
