Good place for a stopover stay

The park was clean and the staff was pleasant and the site was level and a nice fenced in dog park. Great for overnight or two nights most but not long stays because the amenities don't match the price that you pay. It's an old park and it needs some work. Maybe if they put up a nice fence to block off the wooded area that just looks like scruff that might help a bit. It's in need of a facelift.

We arrived shortly before the posted closing time and the office was closed, a little inconvenient as we needed a few items. The facility is not very visually appealing, quite dark at night, the pool appeared to be a breeding ground for mold, fungus and mosquitos. Fortunately, we were only there for a quick overnight stay.

Great Abilene park. Steve was great and helped with several things I needed. Thank you Steve!

I was told when I checked in that the tv cable was notworking and that the internet was spotty due to the wind. There was one outlet in the cabin and a power strip plugged into it. The heater and refrigerator were plugged into the power strip. When I plugged my phone charger into the strip it would kick off. Never been to a KOA that did not leave a light on at night in the bathroom. Nearly fell.

Sites and hookups were fine. The manager seemed to always be put out and we couldn’t wait to leave.

Loved the fenced in dog area. Very helpful for 2 dogs that have been on the road for the last few days.

It was almost empty yet they gave us a spot that was flooded with water on the side. They had propane but no one there to give it to us. We requested a pull thru so we could leave the Jeep Hooke up but the spot they gave us we had to unhook and move the Jeep to the front. They did not open up till 9 in the morning.

The office has limited hours this time of year, so we couldn’t make a reservation. When we arrived, we texted and called the number listed on the door to get the Wi-Fi code, but no one ever answered. The caretaker saw us wandering around and asked if he could help. Otherwise we wouldn’t have had any info at all. Otherwise, it was a restful stay and we would consider staying there again.

Just passing through this time. We made the reservation. We were arriving on Thanksgiving day. The lady said the office would be closed for Thanksgiving. gave us instructions and told us where everything would be. We found everything just as she said. Thank you. Hope to stop again sometime. Great faculties and staff.

We made our reservation last minute after driving through a snow storm and not wanting to continue in the pouring rain. Staff was friendly and no issues getting a site. Site was clean and level. Glad we stopped there

Nice and clean.

Very comfortable and relaxing. All tho we stay for the night but it feels like home away from home. Thank you KOA

I want to recognize the staff of this campground, they are amazing! At the front desk is a young lady (Nala) who is professional and very customer service focused. Maintenance (Steve) is obviously important, it’s a shiny as a bright new penny. Housekeeping (Lupe) is important, it is spotless, every waste basket was so clean, not even a speck of dust. Manager (Angelica) obviously is a great leade

Was there I guess almost three years. Great people. Stephen is a great asset and a good friend

They were very friendly and as we were doing a overnight stop they even came to our site and filled our propane tank and brought the tanks back to our site Great customer service.

The staff is super friendly and thus koa is good for a short stay over as it’s convenient access to I20. Did not have opportunity to use bathrooms or laundry. Pull through site was helpful

Everything was wonderful.

Overall good. Very close to I20 so noisy 7/24 but conveniently located. Drain in one of the men's shower was stopped up, otherwise good stay.

Just passing thru and the koa was nice and close to interstate. Check in was a little slow but the campground was clean. Would definitely stay here again.

Excellent Stay. Close to Dyess USAF Base.

It was a great location! Clean, friendly staff, great amenities, little road noise and close to groceries and restaurants! We visited the Storybook Capital of America and that was awesome and a huge craft/holiday fair at the convention center! Abilene KOA was a hidden gem!

Didn't see much. We came in after the office had closed, and left before they opened, around sunrise. The only garbage dumpsters were not convenient, being out on the main road.

Flat lot. Convenient. Good deal of road noise.
Nov 12, 2022
Quiet park, some freeway noise, good WiFi, easy on/off, nice having an hibachi.
Nov 12, 2022
The bathrooms were clean and the dog park was nice. The staff was less than helpful and not easy to work with.
Nov 11, 2022
It was just what we needed. Easy access off the interstate and a good clean place to get out of the wind and spend a night.

Abilene KOA was a wonderful place to stay. The sites were well cleaned and maintained. You’re close enough to town to easily enjoy what Abilene has to offer, but far enough from town and the freeway to feel secluded. Couldn’t hear freeway noise inside my camper. The best thing about Abilene KOA is definitely the staff! Friendly, warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful! We will be back!

Very clean and well kept. The trees were trimmed back and it offered a very camp like feel for being right off the highway and next to a hotel. Road noise was minimal and access on and off the freeway was easy

Great little campground always doing improvements.
Nov 04, 2022
Water pressure in shower so bad it would not penetrate my hair. Not that they can do much about it but this is the loudest KOA ever. Most are near major highways but the sound here was over the top.

Great Journey location. Got in late left early the next day. Only a 4 stars, site had trash and a rotting pumpkin on the table.

Really nice campground and nice girl up front. Ah fit a site near the back to get away from the highway noise.
Nov 01, 2022
We were there for 2 nights to attend area marching band competition. It served our purpose for this trip. However, the nearness to I20 and the lack of a noise barrier makes it quite noisy at night. The other issue we had was a missing cap on the sewer line and lackadaisical attitude of the staff when they were informed.

Nice enough for a night or two, or longer if you don't mind a little highway noise and the occasional sound of a B1B taking off or landing in the distance. The Good: Clean bath/shower rooms with enough pressure and temp for a good hot shower. Nice little playground for the little kids. Nice little dog park for the furry family members. Good sized sites, level and hard pack/paved (we were in a pull thru) and full hookups. Nice laundry room with competitive pricing $3.50 for a wash and dry as of this writing. There's also a little book and "stuff" exchange area in the corner of the laundry room. The staff are friendly and jovial. The Meh: Cell coverage (we have Verizon and ATT with a WeBoost) and wifi coverage is poor to spotty, with the wifi being non-existent further back in campground. Highway noise and the lights from the motel next door are noticeable if you're in the front of the park. If you're planning to stay for a while, ask for a spot in the back of the park. If you need propane, get it prior to arrival as theirs is out of service and has been for at least a couple of months (we stopped here in February and it was out of service then, it's now April)...not sure if they have any plans to bring it back online or not. Overall: The good far outweighs the meh and this is a good stop along I-20 if you need to rest for a spell.

Great campsite! We stayed for one night, everything was ready for us whenever we got there, the bathrooms were extremely clean and heated/air conditioned! The dog park was super clean as well! We choose a pull through site and it was super easy and convenient! Only downfall was the wifi wasn't the best, but we are camping, so.
