The Pacific Coast Region contains the British Columbia province. Located along the western edge of Canada, this region has a variety of climates. Along the southern coast, there is a mild coastal climate with precipitation. Summers are warm and the winters are the mildest in Canada in this area. As you move inland, the central and interior areas of the province with higher elevations experience a more continental climate with hot summers and cold, snowy winters. Due to the effect of the mountain ranges on the climate, some lowland interior areas can experience a dry, arid climate. The northern part of the province has long, cold winters and short summers. The popular times to camp are from April/May through September/October. There are three KOA campgrounds to suit your needs in this region with amenities to make your camping experience very comfortable.
British Columbia is the third largest province in Canada by population. The largest city is Vancouver and the capital is Victoria. Along the coast, you can enjoy whale watching or kayaking. There are seven national parks in British Columbia. Near the BC Islands and Vancouver Island area, you will find Pacific Rim National Park Preserve and Gulf Islands National Park Preserve. In eastern British Columbia, you can visit the Kootenay Rockies area and four other parks; Mount Revelstoke National Park, Kootenay National Park, Glacier National Park, and Yoho National Park. The remote Gwaii Haanas National Park Preserve is in Northern British Columbia. The Sea-to-Sky Highway is a scenic journey that connects Whistler to Vancouver. There are great attractions to visit in the Vancouver area, including its urban Stanley Park, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, and the Vancouver Aquarium. Victoria is the capital of the British Columbia province located on the southern portion of Vancouver Island. It is just a ferry ride away from Washington state and the Seattle area. Visit beautiful Butchart Gardens, with 55 acres of flowers and water features or the Royal BC Museum in Victoria. Wells Gray Provincial Park is known as "Canada's Waterfall Park," and currently has 41 named waterfalls. There is a KOA campground only about six miles from this beautiful park. If you are planning to visit the national parks in the eastern part of the province in the Kootenay Rockies area, the Sicamous KOA or the Cranbrook KOA would be a great place to stay on your way. In the winter, British Columbia is a popular skiing destination with resorts such as Whistler, Big White, Revelstoke, Sun Peaks and Fernie ski resorts.
